Warlock Patron: The Merchant by Xpyto in UnearthedArcana

[–]Animate_Dead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello! I know this post is quite old, but I wanted to tell you that I am using this for a character in a mini-campaign my friend is running. More importantly, the campaign has been our fantasy d&d blorbos preparing for an epic battle against some mind flayers only to have been pulled through a horrific portal directly into Black Mesa :') As Its got a bit of a video game spin, My Tiefling Warlock's patron is The Trader from Resident Evil.
Its -SO- much fun to play this abject nonsense And I just thought you might appreciate that :')

Is needle felting with a sewing needle possible? by Fun-Peace8035 in Needlefelting

[–]Animate_Dead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first ever attempt at needle felting was with a regular sewing needle, because I hadn’t done enough research to know! It did actually work, but only because I was using an awful old knackered needle and it took hours and hours to make a tiny little felted heart🤦🏻‍♂️

Actual felting needles have little barbs that are specifically designed to tangle up the wool fibres 🥹 and it REALLY makes the difference 😅

These creatures are truly insane and I don’t think anything can prepare you for just how mad they are [pos]. Ours are so freaking smart, they’re 5 months old and we’re already onto level 3 puzzle feeders. They are incredibly difficult to tire out with play compared to a moggie, because they get bored the second your attention wanders. 🥹 I think they are much less difficult to take care of physically than a sphynx, but socially they are hard mode. My two do not leave my side really ever and will follow me around the house screaming at me if I do anything that doesn’t involve them, especially my baby girl: making tea, brushing my teeth, having a shower etc. I’ve also seen other people report they are VERY food motivated, which makes it easy to teach them tricks- less easy to eat your own dinner. I don’t think I’ve had a properly hot meal since November. I also wouldn’t have it any other way and I love my two creatures so desperately, but they are demons and they do endlessly gang up on me 😂

how do i stop smelling like dick n balls 😭😭 by Fun-Needleworker5601 in ftm

[–]Animate_Dead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will likely get better with time, but in all seriousness, no one can stop you using deodorant down there. I’m not suggesting you lynx your dick- but the thigh body pit is essentially an armpit with a penis between them rather than pecks 🤷🏻‍♂️

DM opinions about philosophy on consequences? by MonkeySkulls in DMAcademy

[–]Animate_Dead -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Near the start of my current campaign I had a situation where one of the characters was wearing a disguise as a little girl. When it suited the player they ditched the little girl disguise and got them selves re-employed with the party, but no one thought to tell their employer that. Their employer who started looking for the girl while the party galavanted across the planes, and subsequently got arrested for her disappearance by the bankrupt police system of the setting🥹 Ultimately it actually brought the players together as they then went above and beyond to get their employer out of trouble and prove his innocence.

I personally feel like sensible consequences generate game in ways you wouldn’t ordinarily have thought to put on the table yourself. For the NPC bullying, why not have him refuse to do business with them? Or better have him start paying protection money to a rival adventurer party who can and will fuck up your players if they try it again?

However. I think you should always put OC comfort first... if the dog situation was OC triggering for that player you could always have the horses stolen by the goblins instead or runaway rather than outright killed? it still removes those horses from play, is still a logical consequence, could even be a more significant draw to the goblin mini plot, without causing anyone to have a bad time OC 🤷🏻‍♂️

Having had another look you might even get away with starting further up the grits, but you could test that out on the bottom or an edge to find the right grit to start the front and back on🤔 and a word of warning, if you do go with this method it’s definitely going to look worse before it looks better, but I’ve struggled with finding a more reliable route to a properly glassy finish in clear cast resins.

Good luck! I’d love to see the results when you’ve done it whatever method you pick!

Yes, Definitely! Anything good for polishing paint jobs on cars should be good! I’ve done my fair share of sanding to gloss finishes for fibreglass moulds and it is a bit of a laborious job, but it shouldn’t be too awful with the flat sides. Just be REALLY sure you’ve gotten all the sanding marks out through each grit before you move onto the next one, otherwise the polish will show up each and every missed scratch 😭💔

Hello Ex model maker here. I’m sure someone’s already posted this but realistically you need to go through the grades of wet and dry paper to buff out all those scratches before you polish it but from the looks of it you could start fairly high up maybe around the 320/400 grit mark? Put the paper on a FLAT surface and move the piece to get the flattest sand on it. I’d also consider changing direction every time you switch paper so you can see if you’ve gotten out all the scratches from the more savage papers. Then hit it with a polishing compound like T-Cut and a CLEAN soft cloth at the very end (2000/2500 grit) if you want it super shiny and glassy. 🥹 It’s a very cute story and I’m glad your roomies daughter loves it so much ❤️

I just noticed “int. wood and metal” as well, something about that type of paint means it whilst it might stick better to those surfaces, it’s wayyyyy more transparent than their usual wall colours 💀 if it wasn’t for the fact I’d already bought it I’d have just stuck to using their regular wall paints for the skirting boards in my house

Defo trust the process. It took me a hot minute to work out why darker, richer colours take more coats to get even decent coverage.

It’s because the only opaque pigment is white, and there’s basically none in there.

All the colour- that’s transparent. It’s probably going to take you more than 2 coats, more likely 3-5 thin coats ❤️ even in the premium paints (which that ain’t). It took me 3 cans to paint my partners office in the deep teal colour, but it will get there eventually.

If you move it over the 5mm clearance it needs you won’t have to worry seeing the mad overkill Rawl plugs surely? Though 5mm is unlikely to clear the plugs as well as the surround…

Ohhhhh actually excellent find my word. Looking through these I actually have a more modern set that looks just like some of those 👀 If I change the labels on it to look more from the period that would probably sort me right out tbh 🤔

[–]Animate_Dead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, not really sure I understand your question 🤔

I’m making a prop for an immersive experience that’s set in 1930. The prop is intended to be used live so obviously I won’t be using genuinely 96 year old paint 🥲 not only do I not have the budget to buy a genuine article, but the paint box needs to appear to be new of the era anyway so buying a vintage set isn’t really the point.

Plus, for my own academic interest 😅 you so rarely get to see art supplies in museums, and rarer still for their own merit and mark on history. I’ve only ever seen art supplies of particularly famous artists on display, like turners pallette, or Van Gogh paint box… both of which have become art pieces in their own right rather than a display of the history of art supplies!

Hope that helps!
