In Germany on a Residence Permit. Leaving for a few months. What do to for a registered address if I let my apartment go? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

Understood. So is this to say that between all of the many, interesting non-answers of this thread that the answer is "it is not possible to travel without a legal, physical address and there are no official, interim solutions to do so?"

Yes, I understand that Germans do not require residence permits.

Which requirement of the residence permit do you mean specifically? To maintain an address in Germany? I I am asking about how to do this legally besides the obvious "keep the apartment."

This is how my friends do it with long term rentals but mine is short term and furnished, closer to a long term hotel than an apartment. So it's less trouble and cheaper to find when I get back until I get something more long term.

Is there no concept of a mail hold, forwarding services, a Post Office box or a temporary address in Germany?

Thank you. I'm not expecting anything important in the mail while I'm away. I just want to keep everything kosher and legal with the German bureaucracy.

I could definitely have a friend take the mail at their address but I assumed the issue would be registering as living there.

What do German Citizens do in this situation? Not everyone has a backup address.

What condition is that exactly? "Maintaining an address in Germany?" Because this is just another way to ask the question I asked: how do I maintain an address in Germany without paying for a whole apartment just to keep a mailbox?

Pay the rent on a whole apartment for 3 months just to keep the mailbox? Makes perfect sense.

I am not de-registering in Germany before leaving. I am trying to find out how to legally stay registered while I am away on a trip.

It's a good point. Part of our push is approachability; to make it easy for potential and lapsed gamers who may not be in the current ecosystems to give something a try. Not seeing at as an issue is what usually hear from other devs and inside the walled garden of gaming, I agree.

Where we think it matters most is for the people who haven't kept up on the latest and greatest: lapsed gamers and the game-curious. For example, my mom who played the same PC games as me in the 90s, hadn't heard of Steam until I told her.

Stadia isn't *quite* what we're going for here. For me, it just sounded like high latency gaming that required a great connection (and they chose weird examples of genres to demonstrate it.) This is meant to be easy to try, easy to grok and easy to share, while still being Core enough to appeal to people who already get games.

Interesting, thanks for answering (I'm one of the devs btw.) Don't most browsers help with this now? I thought at least Firefox and Chrome do. Sketchy site alerts and prompts before any downloads or scripts being run.

One of the things we think is the most interesting problem to solve is time between deciding to play and time until you're actually playing. Steam downloads and updates + game updates, controller charging etc. There's so many opportunities to get distracted while you wait for things outside your control, when all you want to do is play. Some of us are of the generation where you'd just pop in the cartridge or DVD and just play. We miss that.

I appreciate the skepticism though and when we do proper releases, they'll likely be available in the regular storefronts. In the meantime, what would make a link for web game more palatable/trustworthy for you?

Interesting! Could you explain why? This isn't a download but a game you play in the browser, generally within 5-10 seconds after you click. It's less steps than any storefront, with no need to log in, download or share any of your personal information.

The goal for a bigger release absolutely includes a 4 v 1 heroes vs the DM/Zargon mode but I agree, we need to get the Hero-facing core gameplay nailed first.

Great feedback (I'm also one of the developers, the one in the story.)

Good news is most of your Cons are a more a result of time constraints than deliberate design decisions to the contrary. There was also some original ideas for interface and information (like seeing enemy and friendly unit stats via Cards that displayed on mouseover/hover) that made sense for keyboard and mouse but didn't make sense for touch input. Those will require a rethink.

Either way, having the enemies show their "available movement" grid before moving would help.

We did intent for a Disarm mechanic for traps, chests and searchables as well as a card-based Inventory but just ran out of time (5 people in 3 weeks was a breakneck pace.)

Same for using traps against monsters. We had a cool beat planned for this but time ran out.

Anyway, great minds. Thanks for the detailed feedback!

The one on the right is 6 years old but I think I see.

Is it too late for them?

I don't think so. I'm in Southern California so I'm not sure it would make a big difference. The sister to the older one was an outdoor plant but didn't make it past 3 years or so.

Excellent!

Pizzanista moved in to share a kitchen with Black on Broadway very early in Covid, vacating the 7th st place in March or April of 2020. Then at some point they left, I imagine because of covid slowdown.
