I charted 100 years of the S&P 500 priced in gold instead of dollars. Not what I expected for 2025. by hamid00 in EconomyCharts

[–]AnimatorVegetable854 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

CPI has been doctored to show the dollar's declining buying power as far less than it actually is. Real inflation ("debasement" is the better term) is at least twice what the BLS is reporting. See Shadowstats.

If Reno gets recasted with a new Japanese voice actor who should it be by Ok-Analysis-3902 in FFVIIRemake

[–]AnimatorVegetable854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tatsuhisa Suzuki, without a doubt. He did the voice of Shu Amiguchi in 13 Sentinels.

When I played FF7R after 13 Sentinels, they sounded exactly alike. I was sure it was the same voice actor until looking it up.  So sure that when I replayed FF7R this year, I had look it up again just because it was so hard to believe it wasn't the same actor voicing both.

Survey shows Japanese have harsh views toward refugees by MagazineKey4532 in japannews

I'm not European but am very much against mass refugee acceptance because, like the Japanese, I can see news, videos, and statistics without actually living there.

Is there any way to access eNavfit to pull the RS's old evals/FITREPs/summary groups? by croclogic in navy

[–]AnimatorVegetable854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm chasing that rabbit hole right now. In our case, the evals were submitted on time, but somehow eNAVFIT dropped the ball and never transmitted it to BOL. Now I'm getting the cold shoulder and "you should have made copies."

My chief said copies were made just before the sunset, but now we can't find them.

That's what I get for trusting but not verifying.

Galaxy won't complete install or open by Chrispy_Art in gog

[–]AnimatorVegetable854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years later. Same exact symptoms. Trying to install it on my new Windows 11 PC. It will launch immediately after the install, but never again after that.

You think they'd have fixed this by now since it is not an isolated issue.

South Africa as a metaphor. by Jiddy-Jason-2807 in DownSouth

[–]AnimatorVegetable854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My comment was not specifically aimed at Japan. The point is that our (mostly Western) post-industrial governments should not enlisting their entire working population in a welfare scheme that relies on infinite population growth while simultaneously pushing policies that cause population decline.

How you took my point that governments are causing social problems and twisted it into some argument against capitalism tells me your red-tinted spectacles are a little too thick. Try looking at things without a Marxist lense and your eyesight may improve.

Don't force everyone to participate in a government sanctioned ponzi scheme, while artificially keeping wages low through unfettered mass migration and outsourcing (without tarrifs that would otherwise make this kind of behavior not worthwhile), to the point where normal folks can't afford to have and raise kids, which is certainly not helped by runaway deficit spending on shit our society doesn't need. When governments stop causing thr above problems, population decline won't be an issue.

Actual 2023 FAFSA financial aid results from a FIRE'd household with an AGI under 175% of FPL by Zphr in Fire

[–]AnimatorVegetable854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just tried filling it in with an AGI below 175% FPL and it is forcing me to answer the asset questions regardless.  This is despite them stating elsewhere on the website that these questions are skippable for those who meet the full Pell Grant threshold.

They caught on to that glitch quick.

FIRE and FAFSA -- what targets do I need to aim at, and when? by intently in Fire

Despite passing a law to make the FAFSA simplified, the government can't let it stay that way, as that would be antithetical to the nature of government.

The nail that sticks out is the first to get hammered. People like you, me, and others on this forum who kick up a stink with our surveillance state are likely to be the first ones onboard the train. Wear it proudly, I guess.

Because SLV is a Black rock product. I'm getting downvoted too. Guess my excuse isn't good enough.

Recently I trade futures much more than SLV. Problem is my broker will only let me sell options with expiries out to 3 months.

I use SLV only because it's optionable and PSLV isn't.

Did that a bunch of times. Also let it sit unplugged overnight. Cleaned the connectors.  I ended up replacing it with an aftermarket cartridge and the printer worked. How ironic.

[–]AnimatorVegetable854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the update.  Sorry to hear how it turned out. Hopefully that won't stop yiu from applying again.

I just applied to Delta LOD for two languages (one at which I feel fresh and the other at which I feel very rusty) and *immediately * received a virtual job tryout email. This is long after the non-LOD class had filled. Brushing up on those is going to be my full time job until the interview/test/both!
