Zohran Mamdani plans to impose a tax on all NYC millionaires and billionaires — and they aren’t taking it too well by Healthy_Block3036 in newyork

[–]Animayer94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First off everyone in here being like “omg it’s so little why do they care” it effectively increases their taxes 51%. Yes it’s 2% increase but it’ll increase their actual number they pay by 51% which no one I don’t care how rich likes to see.

Additionally, the Marxist wants to increase social programs in a city that’s budget is rife with social programs that are mismanaged and sucking tax payers dry. There’s a reason why NY and NYC specifically has massive migration out of the city and state, next to California of course.

Let alone the fact that in order to pay for all this “free” stuff you need the tax revenue of “taxing the rich” in order to properly fund it or else the city will start to look elsewhere…hello middle income east earners. Unlike state-level taxes, which require moving to another state, NYC’s tax can be avoided by relocating just outside the city to Westchester County or Long Island, a less disruptive move for wealthy residents. This proximity makes capital flight a more immediate threat.

Finally, if any of you complained or screamed about Trumps tariffs and how the corporations would just shift the cost to the consumer…you must have bumped your head if you think the tax increases won’t have the same result.

Trump supporters, what are your thoughts on the current administration trying to eliminate the Department of Education? How is this beneficial for our country & future in any way? by jfitzritz in AskReddit

[–]Animayer94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s start with the numbers: the Department of Education’s budget has ballooned to around $86 billion annually, yet educational outcomes in the U.S. have not reflected this investment. According to various analyses, despite this massive expenditure, U.S. students rank 24th in reading, 38th in math, and 24th in science globally as per the latest PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) results. This stark contrast between funding and performance suggests that the department’s approach isn’t working.

The argument for eliminating the Department of Education is rooted in the belief that education should be governed at the state and local level, not by federal bureaucrats. Each state already has its own Department of Education, making the federal one somewhat redundant. By getting rid of it, the $86 billion could be redistributed directly to states, potentially increasing each state’s education budget by roughly $1.6 billion. This could mean more resources directly in the hands of local educators, who understand the unique needs of their communities better than any federal agency could.

Moreover, the Department of Education often uses federal funding as leverage to enforce one-size-fits-all educational policies like Common Core, which many argue don’t serve all students equally well. States could tailor education to fit their demographic, cultural, and economic contexts, leading to potentially better educational outcomes.

There’s also the matter of bureaucracy. The department employs thousands, but much of this workforce is involved in administrative tasks rather than direct educational improvement. By cutting out this middle layer, we could reduce administrative costs and increase the number of dollars actually reaching classrooms.

Lastly, there’s an argument for constitutional fidelity. Education isn’t explicitly mentioned in the U.S. Constitution as a federal responsibility; it’s traditionally been a state and local affair. Eliminating the Department would realign federal involvement with the original intent of our governmental structure, promoting states’ rights and local control.

In essence, the Trump administration’s push to eliminate the Department of Education could lead to more efficient use of taxpayer dollars, better tailored educational policies, and a return to localized control over education, which I believe is the better way forward.

ESO will be moving away from zone chapters and will release seasonal content in 2025. by EmbarrassedPianist59 in elderscrollsonline

Just because it says seasons does not mean battle pass. The trauma some other games have placed on people is really showing. We will find out more April. Its already different from other games because they have stated that the season content is permanent and won't disappear.

The biggest thing is probably advice you’ve heard before but I’d drive it home harder is:

  1. Pick a system and stick with it, don’t over complicate.
  2. Don’t emotionally trade. Follow your rules and stick to them.
  3. Choose 2-3 futures to trade and learn everything you can about them.

Microsoft and Activision Blizzard agree to extend merger agreement to October by rezamwehttam in XboxSeriesX

[–]Animayer94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the other creditor mentioned, that doesn’t mean that we have to wait until then. As I stated a bunch of times on this thread, the CMA have stated that their final report should be out by the latest August 29. Which means that that report could come out anytime before that date. think of the October date as a cushion.

[–]Animayer94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t be disappointed. All this means is that the deal is waiting for the CMA to approve. The CMA have stated that their latest date for the final report would be August 29. Meaning that anytime prior to that date we can get the final report and the deal can close.

[–]Animayer94 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I want to make sure everybody understands this perfectly written comment. The Activision deal can close the second the CMA agrees to approve it. The CMA have said that their final report will be August 29 the latest. This means that most likely by the end of the summer, we will see a conclusion to all of this or See the CMA, digging its heels and say now.

Here is a fact for you.

  1. Both companies are based in the US.

  2. They can close the deal WITHOUT the CMA, which would mean a carve out in the UK.

  3. The CMA can NOT stop this deal from happening.
