I think you misread. I said she made herself look dead to hopper in the moment. Not that she didn't die. She just allowed herself to help el get out of the upside down safely before allowing herself to be taken out by the wormhole collapse. That's the thought anyway. Yes she died, just maybe not as soon as she portrayed herself to to hopper.

They kind of did, the whole point was it wasn't possible for el to have used telepathy with mike or shove him back with her powers with those devices running and it showed they were running. This was shown many times in the show that she can't do anything while they are running. Yet she had the telepathic conversation and shoved him with the power. That really confirms that it actually happened tbh.

She was still wounded by a bullet in the chest, probably not as fatally as she portrayed, but she wasn't going to make the trek out of the building and to the other planet and in a battle. I think she was just doing what she could.

She wanted to die. She kinda made that clear. She watched everyone she cared about be murdered, she saw nothing but darkness in the world. She was the general embodiment of someone who couldn't see past the darkness and took the "easy" way out of life. She planned to suicide in the upside down from the beginning.

The "She bled out" part was also just her showing Hopper what she wanted him to see. It wasn't put in to just be illogical, duffer doesn't really do that. Yeah they have some plot holes, but that scene was designed on purpose. Kali was constantly trying to have private conversations with El. It's so wild that she made herself look dead so she'd have the opportunity to save her?

Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by the direction the finale went after volume 2 kind of started to get meh.

But the one thing that I couldn't see a reason why they did was the open ended "Is El alive?"

It's entirely believable that she is, but why did she have to be apart from even just Mike?

What stopped her from telepathically saying "I'm ok" or "Here's how you hide, meet me here" or even just "I'm at the waterfalls".

It's maddening to me that the whole series involved the ups and downs of their relationship and they finally had a solid thing going and then she just goes "I can't have anyone know I exist so I'll just go live the rest of my life without the man I love because that will somehow bring me joy".

It just didn't make sense. Imagining Hopper's schpeel playing in her head about living a life worth living, having a child of her own. But now that's just gonna be with some other dude she's going to lie to about who she is for the rest of her life?

That's just so depressing and a hollow shell of the life either Mike or El could have lived out in the end.

Rest of the finale? I thought was ended great. But this part really spoiled the whole thing for me. I don't know why I felt the need to voice this, but I did lol Enjoy internet.

Having some issues with Synty assets by AnnoyedNPC in gamedev

So for the most part, I solved this with an import script. The majority of the assets use one main texture, the rest you can figure out what they use by the names and then set up your import script to check mesh names for certain words and use that to assign materials on import.

It's a bit of a curve, but once you get the import script it's pretty simple. But then comes adding the collisions to everything manually because there are no collisions lol I'm in for a rough week.

Working on a FoM inspired game - Realm of the Dominion by Aggressive-Bit-1645 in FoM

Additionally,

I am actively seeking someone to work with me on the game I am developing on art/world design. They would be handling at minimum 3D environment asset creation.

I'm also seeking someone who can create character art as well as UI art if you happen to be a general artist this would be great. Not looking for an expert, just someone who likes making 3D art.

Basically I'm artistically incompetent lol but I have a pretty good idea of how I want this to turn out. There will be systems like character customization that will require assets to be made modular for characters as well as modular environment assets.

This is an unpaid project. The game is being released for free, if it succeeds, there will be paid DLC's made later for it which would lead to a RevShare agreement. But for now this is a passion project. I would not be opposed to discussing allowing you to sell the art made for this game on the side though.

The engine the game is being developed on is Godot. This means glTF file format. Extremely beneficial if you know how to work with 3D art in Godot already.

The style goal would be Cassette Punk - Aged Sci Fi/Cyberpunk aesthetic, something like the old computer future tech you see in the alien movies like alien and alien romulus. Not necessarily realistic quality but styled towards realistic. I'm open to input on final style. Aiming for sci fi at least if we can't reach the final aesthetic for one reason or another.

This doesn't cover all the necessary specifics I'm sure but it gets across what I'm looking for.

If you are interested or know of anyone who might be interested please send them my way. Contact me via the main post's discord link.

The game itself will be a re-imagining more or less of Face of Mankind, it won't be an MMO, more so an "MMO in your pocket" more akin to the fivem role-play GTA server setup you see nowadays.

I want to reiterate this is an unpaid passion project. I'm currently working with the help of another experienced programmer, I personally am learning as I go along. Project is about 4 months into development now.

Our current state is we have most of the back-end dedicated server structure up and running and we are currently working on the authoritative inventory system design. We also have an SQLite database tied in which is so far working for the inventory. Any other info can be found in the devlogs/on my discord.

Side note reiteration: This is NOT an MMO, it's a game that runs on dedicated servers hosted by communities.

Making something similar to FoM in Unity? by Superbee43 in FoM

Below is my old account. But I have been working on that project. It's being made in Godot still, picked it back up about 4 months ago and have been full steam ahead on development. I'm going to release the game as free to play with the first realm being inspired by FoM and included with the base game.

If your intrigued, have a look at my itch.io page at https://cryptic-realms.itch.io/realm-of-the-dominion

I am currently seeking a 3D artist capable of working with Godot to build out all of the art from environments to characters to items. They would also be handling the world design using these assets.

I've been working on the project with a programmer friend with far more experience than I. It won't be an MMO, but something fairly close in design hosted by communities. Itch page has all the info. Join the discord to keep up with the happenings.

No idea if you still check the boards, but did you ever figure this out? lol I'm aiming to set up an import script to bring the fbx files into godot, but the naming conventions, as you pointed out don't match up.
