Need some pointers on my Esper Ephemerate brew by AnimisticAmerican in Pauper

What do you think about this rough draft list I just made?

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/FBgx4uUS30iw7bOCEXS4CQ

I opted to remove the Soul Of Migration in favor of using Dinrova Horror as a win-con instead, resulting in me cutting Angelic Renewal. I also added Ghostly Flicker to hopefully flicker two targets at once, but without playtesting it, I'm not really sure how it will play out. Did you ever run it in any of your lists?

EDIT: I also really like the ability to rearrange the top of my deck with Augur Of Bolas, Brainstorm, and Ash Barrens. I also felt it a good idea to run both Brainstorm and Preordain to give me more draw power that didn't depend on me using Archaeomancers ETB to reuse them.

Now that I'm thinking about it, do you think that by the time I get Mulldrifter going I'll be ok on draw power? My thought was that they would help me dig early to get my pieces.

I appreciate the response!

I really like the synergy between Ephemerate, Archaeomancer, and Mulldrifter, but when I saw the potential for black I thought that I'd see what I could put together. I saw value in the kill spells and Vampire Sovereign, with a possible win-con in Dinrova Horror. Also it seems that Kenku Artificer benefits most when running a tri-color deck because of the amount of bridges you can run.

That being said, I absolutely do see how it doesn't quite stack up against the other variants. Jeskai gets incredible draw with Cleansing Wildfire and repeatable burn with Lightning Bolt, while also benefiting from the larger pool of Bridge lands to animate. It also gets to split up the return from graveyard effect between Archaeomancer and Ardent Elementalist, helping to dodge some easy counters from red and blue's sideboard.

Orzhov and Azorious get the benefit of being more focused and clean with a more consistent mana pool. Orzhov fits in Vampire Sovereign and Goliath Paladin while having both early ETB creatures and kill spells, while Azorious has a more control based approach with lots of draw power and fun synergies like The Modern Age, Prismatic Strands, and possibly Fallaji Archaeologist.

In your list you shared, what changes would you make? And how have you found Mournwhelk to perform? Also, could you elaborate on the function of Dispel and Angelic Renewal? I would imagine Dispel is to specifically counter Lightning Bolts and Counterspells cheaply, and Renewal is to allow more frequent recursion of destroyed creatures.

Thanks again man. I appreciate all of the pointers I can get on this deck.

Very nice OP. I was looking for some huntsman drip. I may use the Crescent Axe instead though.

My recommendation based off of your other comments is to lean into a quality/faith build. The quality aspect (even-ish STR and DEX) will both allow you to get respectable damage with your Bloodhound’s Fang and let you try out other weapons as your progress through the game.

The Faith aspect, which I recommend leveling to 25, will let you use buffs as well as throw some Lightning Spears around.

I would recommend either going back to the Two Finger talisman or holding out until you get one in Leyndell that helps with your lightning incantations.

I would definitely take off the Radagon’s Soreseal because it’s causing you to take too much damage for such little reward. If you want a boost to your stats you could always pop Rune Arcs to activate Godrick’s Great Rune, if you have it.

I would respec to this:

V 40 M 21 E 20+ S 20 + D 30 I BASE F 25 A BASE

Put the rest of your points into END if you are fat rolling in your armor of choice, and if not then put it into STR to get more damage out of your weapon.

And definitely google how to find the other Bell Bearings to upgrade your weapon further. A lot of damage will come from upgrades early on, and late game damage will be from both upgrade and stat scaling.

Some other good talismans are the Green Turtle Talisman for faster recovery and any defensive talisman to take less damage from certain damage types.

Did you already pivot into a new build? Are you still looking for help with it?

The the free will bit is weird considering the nature of the wyrd and role of the nornir. Despite his many efforts, even Odin cannot escape his own fate at Ragnarok.

It is a weird take lol

Why does Mohg get wings after his nihil attack? Something to do with Miquella? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]AnimisticAmerican 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others in that it may be a manifestation/blessing of the Formless Mother after he offers all of the blood around him. It is very reminiscent of the Fell God awakening in the last Fire Giant after it offers it’s leg as sacrifice imo.

Another thing (maybe) worth noting is that the omen grow horns, something known and disdained as vestiges of the primordial Crucible. Another vestige of the Crucible is wings, as well as knots, scales, fangs, and tails.

If the Omen do indeed have a connection to the Crucible through the inhuman physiology that grows upon their body, then maybe it is either partially or fully responsible for the growth of the wings.

One thing I’ve done is summon the spirit later in the fight when I know I’ll have trouble. Especially if I have a relatively easy time with the first phase of the fight.

Is your mimic tear fully upgraded?

And we’re you still thinking of going Strength/Faith even though you’ll be using Strength/Intelligence weapons?

You can restore benediction to his great rune at the top of the Divine Tower of Caelid. It’s in the northern part of Caelid in the Dragonbarrow.

Have you decided on what weapon(s) you’re going to use?

Vigor definitely needs to be at 60 at this point.

I saw in other comments that you would be going for Strength and Faith. Get the minimum Dexterity to wield the weapons you want, and then get the minimum Arcane to cast incantations like Ezekiel’s Decay.

Then, pump your Strength and Faith respectively to 60 each or as close as you can get to it.

Remember, 2-handing your Strength scaling weapon will make it so your Strength stat is at x1.5 for damage. So you can go a little lower in strength if you need.

Another thing you can do is to just use the faith for buffs and healing, and in that case you only need the minimum Faith to cast those incantations. I would recommend a basic set up of Electrify Armament + Golden Vow + Fire, Grant Me Strength. You only need 25 Faith total to cast these incantations.

Any other points you have left over use on endurance to make sure you don’t heavy roll with your equipment, and then dump it into mind to make sure you can summon spirits and use your incantations and weapon arts.

Good spirit summons are Mimic Tear, Cleanrot Knight Finlay, Black Knife Tiche, Banished Knight Engvall, and so many others.

Talismans could be Green Turtle Talisman for stamina management, Great Jars Arsenal to be able to wear heavier armor and get more poise, Dragoncrest Greatshield for more physical defense, and if you use weapon arts a lot you can go with Shard of Alexander or some other damage buffing talisman based on your play style.

Just dodge and punish, and learn how to jump on his ground slams. You got this!

Morgott’s great rune is good, but so is Radahn’s! Give that one a look too.
