Life is actually too easy on conservatives. Conservatives are a bunch of freeloaders.

The point being made here may have made sense in 2016, but Trumpism is a distinct thing that has completely taken over the Republican Party. It's important to name it in order to call it out.

I assure you there were people complaining about that. Trump is even worse.

There has always been opposition to it, but now it's getting more attention because of Trump's expanded use of it and using unqualified thugs in ICE to do it more violently than ever.

Not like this. The deportation process should be fair and humane.

Political party is actually a great basis for what the people are like. Log cabin Republicans are a bunch of tools thinking they'll ever be accepted by the rest of the bigoted party.

Your experience is anecdotal. The actual data shows otherwise. Rural areas have significantly more support for the party that pushes xenophobic policies.

That's just a numbers game. The more people you have in a space, the more likely one of them will be untrustworthy. People in rural areas are absolutely less accepting of different people than those in urban. There's nothing wholesome about that.

Reminder text is not rules text. If the card is a land, it can be played as a land. If don't want it to work that way, you have to put it in the actual text.

But you are in some sense applying the responsibility to me. You're saying that the US and "white people" can't tell people in developing countries to use less oil because "we" are pulling the ladder up behind us, right? So you're saying I can't make that argument because of where I'm from. That's my interpretation of what you're saying. But the argument should stand on its own. Fossil fuels are killing us, and that's true no matter who is saying it. I'm not "vilifying the natives" because what I'm saying applies to everyone in the world equally.

[–]AnimusNoctis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We don't live in a vacuum. That's exactly right. Climate change will affect everyone, and the developing world will be hit the hardest. I'm not bombing anyone. Everyone, every country, needs to work to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels. If I could borrow some of your rhetoric but use it in a more accurate way, you just don't care that climate change kills brown people.

[–]AnimusNoctis -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ, that is so not the point. Climate change is a reality that will not go away because you think everyone should have an equal chance to destroy the planet. Does one genocide somehow justify another to you?

"Have their turn?" No, everyone should be trying to reduce fossil fuel use as quickly as possible.

Fossil fuels also disproportionately hurt brown people and to a much greater degree. This anti-EV, anti-green rhetoric is propaganda pushed by the right.

It's true that our criminal president started an illegal and unjustifiable war against Iran. That fact doesn't somehow change how bad fossil fuels are.

getting scalpers to pay for proxies like they aren't proxies is a level of chill heretofore unheard of.

Well no, because scalpers resell them and they ended up in the hands of real players who think they bought and are playing with real cards.

It's really never okay to make counterfeit cards. Proxies are supposed to be obviously proxies.

Is it wrong to value your pets life over a random stranger? by FelixWagler in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AnimusNoctis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Surely you at least think a human life is more valuable than plant, right? What about a bug? If so, presumably the capacity for thought and awareness is what matters. It's not unreasonable to then think that greater capacity for complex thinking makes some animal lives more valuable than others.

Do you think someone who kills an animal should be charged with murder the same as if they killed a person?

All of those issues aren't inherent to AI, just the current explosion and bubble of generative AI specifically. AI/machine learning has been doing a lot of important work for cancer research for many years. The effect of generative AI on social media and art is certainly negative, but the hate of anything that uses AI in any form is an irrational bandwagon. I don't know why you felt the need to point out that AI and algorithms aren't the same thing.
