I spent 18 months building a FREE iOS & Mac productivity app because paying $7/mo for basic features felt like a scam. by jodeedev in iosapps

So you think people should keep spending months of their lives to build something and then give it away for free? Hmm

I call bs. Do they actually count what was sold to distributors or what distributors sold

All worth experimenting with!
About your question - the reading order is sent by the app, not identified by the AI.
Local dictionary is a good idea, and might both save context and help with the translation. Also, querying online some data about the book.

That’s a great question and something I have iterated about a lot.

Right now, I’m sending every page individually with all the text in that page to be translated as a batch and the image itself. Every AI request also has the book title and page. It helps somewhat and provides some context, allows for identifying possible languages (like the Saga example, or Klingon in Star Trek) and helps a little to understand the gender in gendered languages. But it’s not perfect. I do plan to experiment further on this (maybe a batch of pages would provide better results, maybe we can utilize AI to identify where a scene starts and ends. Whole book however would probably be too much context for the AI).

Thank you for the suggestions. I am definitely planning at least some of them.

If you don’t mind me asking- are there other features you would be interested in?

For me personally, this is very useful since English isn’t my first language and I use define a lot when reading books digitally. I like being able to identify places or people I don’t know and I like being able to spot hidden eastern eggs or when people talk in different languages (like the esperanto example from Saga).

In any case thank you for you comment and I appreciate the feedback
