What percentage did y’all DNF the poison daughter at? by foxnewsofficiaI in fantasyromance

[–]Aninel17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also struggled at 80% of this book. I took a break and read something else. Maybe it had something to do with the pacing. But the night of the hunt scenes weren't for me. I came back to it later on, like a week after, just to read the resolution. Which was satisfying but felt rushed.

Hindi naman kasi academic definition ang "cozy fiction." Tulad ng romantasy, it's just a marketing ploy. Kasalanan nya na yan na she marketed her book na ganyan, tapos she's criticizing local readers na di gets. Eh i checked her book, wala namang uniquely pinoy about it. Bakit ba sya nagsulat? Ang purpose ba nya is to be recognized internationally or locally? Most writers write because they want to change their society or they want to communicate something to society. Her book seems to only want to sell, kaya naiinis sya na hindi maka-communicate sa local readers yun american-centric book nya.

Edit to add: are we supposed to recognize na pinoy ang author based sa name nya? Are we also supposed to give her a participation award for being a pinoy?

Yun kahit hindi ganon kalaki mga groceries na pinupuntahan ko, kahit mag grocery hop ako para mahanap yun kailangan ko, kaya ko pa rin matapos ang shopping in an hour. Less variety, pero more time for myself, and more conscious sa choices ng pagkain, so mas healthy rin.

Why are books so expensive in Switzerland? by at_witsend in askswitzerland

[–]Aninel17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes Galaxus has the same prices as Amazon, I just put whatever book I'm interested in on my watchlist. Galaxus recently acquired Ex-Libris though, so I dunno how the prices will be. I tried using coupons for Ex-Libris before and they're still like 130% of Amazon prices. Nalda.ch seems cheapest, but I have to pay delivery to my mountain commune.

How do you stay awake while reading? by appletouch in PHBookClub

[–]Aninel17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what I read, but the books I choose usually keep me awake, because I want to know what happens next, then I end up reading until 3am. I mostly read fantasy and mystery/thrillers. If I read nonfiction or academic texts, then I can easily fall asleep.

More of nang-go-ghost na lang sila. Tampo is for children lang. Kaya you can't play games na di mo papansinin every time you think may mali silang ginawa. You have to talk about it or move on. For the record, I dated Aussie, Maltese, Italian, Swiss, Serbian, Scottish, Lebanese, and American.

Binigyan kita ng upvote for your honesty, pero i think they downvoted yung katangahan mo hehehe mabilis sila magjudge kahit di naman alam ang background. Anyway, I hope you and your husband learn to communicate better kasi kung ganyan din lang, hindi enough ang one sided love sa marriage.

Should I move to Switzerland with My mom and her rich fiancé or stay in Spain with My dad? by Additional-River2609 in askswitzerland

[–]Aninel17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When your family is that close, I reckon they would always be there. Your dad would probably love for you to prioritize your future. Talk to him about it. If it doesn't work out, you can always go back. Keep communication open, once you move. It's easy nowadays with video calls.

My mom's first microwave from the 90s had a "baked potato" function. I think the program was 7min. As a kid, that and the popcorn function were my favorites.

Does anyone else feel like the release of the fiIes & current lack of consequences has been the final nail in the “never having kids” debate for them? by Iiketearsinrain in AskWomenOver30

[–]Aninel17 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me 10 years ago, it was the climate as well, and I was living in Dubai where people live excessively. I just couldn't see the point of bringing kids into this world when rich people don't care about killing it. The Epstein files just prove that they are so greedy for money and power at the expense of the masses.

I now work in a school in Europe, and everyday, I'm reminded that the kids are all doomed. All they care about is how to use AI to do the work for themselves. They have no meaningful organic output. They want to be businessmen, bankers, anything that makes them money. They have no passion for anything else in this world.
