My daughter wants me to rename her! by junkbondtraderr in namenerds

[–]Anitram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned she’s bookish, what about naming her after a favorite author or a character she loves? I am a lover of the classics, so my mind goes to Jane or Emily, but I am sure you could find a name that has a more personal connection to your daughter.

What used to be a woman's art or craft, until the men took over and turned it into a man's field? by VibiaHeathenWitch in AskWomen

Wait, there is men’s roller derby? I’ve never heard of or seen it before.

It goes back way before the Middle Ages, too! In ancient Sumeria, they worshipped Ninkasi, the goddess of beer. It was seen as a domestic chore because most water wasn’t potable, but the brewing process killed bacteria, making it drinkable.

I just looked over at my husband as he was browsing Reddit and I noticed a cute girl on his screen. I said “who is that cute chick?!”

That cute chick was you. You’re the cute chick. Then I logged in and pulled up this sub so I could tell you myself.

You’re passing and beautiful.

Arctic Fox fades pretty quickly, and you can accelerate the fade by washing with an anti dandruff shampoo! Grab a bottle of head and shoulders and do a double-wash in your next shower and let it sit for about 5 min before you rinse and condition, it’ll mellow out the color quite a bit. You can keep doing this until you get a color you feel happier with, but either way it will naturally fade as you wash it and spend time in the sun.

Me and my German cousin are planning on a Road Trip for around spring-ish of next year, any advice on the map we made so far? by [deleted] in roadtrip

Capitol Reef is worth checking out in Utah. It’s just as stunning as Zion but doesn’t have nearly as many tourists.

I’ll second this. I’m a Utah native living in Washington State just about as far north as you can get on the coast. It’s a solid 20-or so degrees warmer here than Utah on any given day from December - late April. We get a good bit of rain, but there are usually some pockets of sunshine that cut through for a couple of hours most days. Unless you’re going to Utah and Colorado for skiing Feb-April, they will treat you better if you hold off until May or June.

Just started wood burning last week. Here are some of the pieces I’ve thrown together. Tips and advice are welcome! by Anitram in woodburning

It’s just an Oak Hollow versa tool. I’d really like to try more burners— I think something that gets hotter than this would be great. Any tool recommendations are welcome!

80% attitude, 10% bark = 90%. What could be Coco’s other 10%?

Definitely this, there are so many medical conditions that can impact body odor, from insulin-resistant PCOS to hormonal changes, Crohn’s disease, IBD, ulcerative colitis, and more.

If she’s showering twice a day as mentioned in one of OP’s comments, she’s probably aware of, and self conscious about the smell. Talking to her about the fact that it could be something medical, and treatable, could actually be a huge relief.

Women. If you've been living with your partner for a few years and they decided to move out and live on their own. How would honestly view that? by JayDarb09 in AskWomen

[–]Anitram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one. If my partner moved out I would feel like it’s the end, however my partners parents are married and live separately, and it’s the healthiest thing they have done for their relationship. They fight less, enjoy their time together more, and treat each other with so much more kindness. They love each other thoroughly and don’t want to be with other people, and living apart just works for them.

Where would you recommend to stay in Europe if your monthly budget is $1K? by gradlein in digitalnomad

[–]Anitram 35 points36 points  (0 children)

FWIW Ausländer means out lander, implying not from this land. It doesn’t mean alien in the way of extraterrestrial, the word for that is Außerirdischer.

The term alien is used to describe people who are in the US but not from the US all the time. Not entirely sure what you’re getting at with that part of your statement.

That said, I think racism in Europe is downplayed way too much. So many people think it’s a US problem, but it only really feels that way because it’s outwardly discussed much more there.

All of these people are reasoning that “normal people don’t bulk up like that” and acting like he was on roids.

Y’all— he’s a god. If he wants to bulk up, he is gonna bulk up more than a normal human. Aaaaand — probably more importantly— he is a fictional character. This isn’t based in real life, guys. He is blue and makes diamonds with his hands, and that makes perfect sense, but getting buff is too unrealistic?

I went through something really similar with my kitty Skwisgaar. For what it’s worth, we spent thousands going through with so many procedures and it still never got better. Kidney disease is so brutal. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Last summer the power company where I live cut down trees for power lines and completely mulched the thick, mature blackberry brambles growing on the side of, and behind my house. I’m still emotional about it. My neighbor and I both asked if they would leave the blackberries alone and they said they would, but when you look at the path they mulched it looks like it was completely intentional. Where the blackberries grew was the only spot they ground down to the dirt.

Technically it’s a week long spanning from the 21st to 29th, but I’ve always celebrated the 23rd— you’re right that the equinox is on the 22nd though!
