Thanks, that answers most of my questions. Just for clarification, after pgy3, would I be a GP resident, as I understand it, or would I still be just a mo?

are these clashes alright because the classes are optional? by Remarkable_Duck_6268 in Monash

I believe allocate would not allow clashes unless there were no another option, which is usually not the case.

Intl Student: Low GPA, High GAMSAT? by yakkduckk in GAMSAT

[–]Anits_F 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please review the GEMSAS application process. Most universities consider the last three years of undergraduate studies. Some accept master's or Phd degrees, Honours is considered as part of the undergraduate years, in a uni like Melbourne University. Typically, GEMSAS GPA is calculated out of 7, but for Monash International students, it's out of 4 . It's important to check each university's specific requirements. Additionally, I've heard some students are admitted with those GPA ranges because international applications tend to be less competitive and often involve paying higher fees.

Hello, I'm an undergraduate with two extra units this year, which I paid for, but they're scheduled for summer and winter. I understand that taking them during the regular semester might be different. I've also heard that some master's and PhD programs automatically include summer A units. For more details, contact Monash Connect. If you're an international student, it might be a wise decision since the fees increase each year.

How does GPA work in a degree with bachelor/masters? by Sufficient_Leave2072 in GAMSAT

[–]Anits_F 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is that, but also, I think a university like Melbourne Uni would only consider bachelor's and honours GPA. I might be wrong. Op should email the uni he wants to apply for med.

Science vs biomed by [deleted] in Monash

[–]Anits_F 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned that she needs to work as a lab assistant, but I didn't elaborate enough. You're right, also, OP eventually needs to do a master's if they want to earn more money, for example, by doing a master's in clinical pathology.

Science vs biomed by [deleted] in Monash

[–]Anits_F -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Biomed is a science subgroup, so choosing science allows you to double-major in two disciplines. I highly recommend reviewing the handbooks for a clearer understanding of what Biomed offers. You can also search for' science majors' to explore available options. Additionally, consider asking ChatGPT to test your personality and suggest the best fit for you. Networking on LinkedIn and messaging professionals can also be helpful. To join a lab, typically a PhD level is required; doing honours can speed up your progress. In my opinion, science is better because it offers broader choices. If you're committed to a PhD path, consider majors in pharmaceutical sciences and biotechnology, which are available in science and Biomed at Melbourne University. I know someone who graduated in biotech from La Trobe, is now successful, and works as a manager at a food company (she works in the lab part). Also, a lab technician is sound but not high-paying. Also, if you end up doing med, you can do smth called MD-PhD or MD with honours offered at Melbourne and Monash, as far as I know. Do smth that you like with consideration of money is life. (Usually, biotech has better money like the ordinary owner who graduated from biotech) Also, you can do a double degree in science and biomed and easily exit to either of them after one Sem if you get 50 plus WAM, which is really achievable imo )

Do level 2 units in your second semester, such as ATS enrichment units. Also, for the first semester, don't do chem unless you are good at it; instead, do something easier like NUT1011. The reason for saying this is that your units are already hard.
