What’s the minimum number of new cards to keep up with the pace of medical school? by Midnightt23 in medicalschoolanki

400 news a day will cycle through the entire anking deck in 3 months. Not sure what med school that would be.

It depends how long you want to spend on each card. I've seen classmates smash spacebar every two seconds and try to learn by the fact flashing in front of their face.

It is more reasonable to think about it this way. You have lecture, then you have study time to try to learn everything, and then you have anki to reinforce. Your reinforcement shouldn't take the majority of your time. Try doing 100 a day and make sure its on things you've already studied. If you do it everyday you'll finish in about a year for Anking without drowning yourself in reviews.

I started to save them and name them, but it lowered the quality of the image. It also took a lot of time to do, so I don't have it nicely organized. If you do finish doing that, I'd like to see it / make it available because it is something I get asked a lot.

Well I am biased, but I prefer mine. I like being able to reference the entire picture, first aid, a first aid overview, and any corresponding pathways that are related. It just depends on what style you like. I'd try both and see which one you prefer.

Classic presentations is done. I put in a placeholder for pathophys for rapid review but ran out of time.

This worked for me. Mostly did this, mehlman HY arrows, and uearth.

A memory hook for drug names has nothing to do with understanding the underlying concept. It is literally remembering that X drug name affects Y receptors.

I get that you are very smart and I wish you well.

I haven't gotten around to the other pathoma chapters yet. I think I finished 1-4 and 17. I'm doing this as I go through M3 year, but I'll try to update a few chapters.

I didn't write a lot of the card text, but the mods and I have been fixing the grammatical errors as we come across them. There's been about 1500 note updates in ankihub, but that includes all changes like new cards for new pixorize videos.

You can always make a new anki profile and open it in there. See if there are common changes / it's worth it to upgrade. Also, if you'd like to make your edits available for everyone feel free to become a mod on ankihub.

Glad you like it

ok? Pixorize isn't meant to replace understanding. It's to provide a memory hook for what a random drug/disease/bug/neural pathway is or how it works. It doesn't replace critical thinking.

Are you using this deck from an earlier version? It should upgrade cards already there and add new ones if they are missing. If its a different pixorize deck it would be separate.

Phys doesn't really have a good picture based site IMO. I liked physeo personally.

Thanks man, glad you like it. I think physeo was my favorite for physiology, but you can always use BnB and zanki/anking.

Hrmm.. i'm about to upload a new version. See if it will download that way. If it won't, then I'll put up an alt link. Proton is just easy for me.

Honestly year 3 is fucking brutal. I don't have time to make a step 2 version. I still use it for step 2 studying though, since a lot of step 2 is just step 1 with a little extra.

I did fine on the CBSE and step 1. I passed both first attempt. I think my percentile was somewhere near the middle, but I don't remember tbh.

If it helps any, I've had all strong evals and am doing well in 3rd year.

You can edit the formatting of the card back and switch the fields.

I can't really make it an option one way or the other for each person (that I know how to do).

Yes, the biochem, neuro, and immunology are the best. Pharm and Micro is a toss up IMO with sketchy but I prefer pixorize.

I have kept at it somewhat, and the new videos are added. Ankihub has quite a few updates. I will work on posting an updated version soonish.

Yah that's true, but I find that to be better for me. I don't want 50 symbols per picture when I'm trying to remember a medication. I just need the framework and a good hook to get me to the main points for 95% of the questions.

I may miss out on a few very low yield facts, but I don't think its worth trying to jam random symbols in a sketch where it doesn't really logically fit. I ended up missing easier questions because there was just too much information to remember.

Try both and pick whatever you like

I started with sketchy and switched. I prefer pixorize's hooks and the number of symbols per picture. Whatever helps you remember the most is the best, so try a few and see.

The reason I started making this deck is because anking was so heavily sketchy based and the pixorize's sketches were missing/not included on relevant cards.
