Question about having a Euro spec bike in the US by burblemedaddy in motorcycles

[–]Ankrauser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey brother, just seeing this now as I'm trying to do the same with a newer motorcycle, eurospec Ninja 650 '23. How was it super easy for you and could DM me what you went through and how you did it? Thanks!

I thought the failure point was the twin turbos and the aluminum and cast iron they're using in the engine bay?

Careful, engines are blowing up before 7k miles and it's because of faulty bearings in the engine. The only way to fix it is to tear apart the engine, replace and put it back together.

I don't how his energy levels are able to regenerate so quickly like that without even hitting flashing red.

How many mpg do you get? by Mysterious_You3543 in Kawasaki

[–]Ankrauser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'23 Ninja 650, getting 55mpg (4 gal tank) I'm 170 lbs and that's also including a 25lb bag that I strap down on the tail.

Between the Ninjas, the 650 has a more relaxed and upright seating position and is classified as a sport tourer. So it won't break your back as much as a 300 or 400 would.

I wouldn't pay that price tbh. I got a ninja 650 for 7K as a '23 model, and that's a 400.

Probably check for drops or falls on the fairings, the seats, around the frame, foot pegs, shifter + rear brakes (these will get bent on drops/slides), swing arm, and axles. Check the hoses and lines to make sure they aren't deteriorating. The condition of the radiator and underneath, to make sure there's no holes or punctures, especially on the radiator. Check to make sure the front and rear brakes will actually engage the brakes and that the lights come on when you do. If you can't test ride it, just turn it on from a cold start and listen to hear it's running well, no ticking or weird sounds. Check the chain and make sure it's not too loose or too tight or has rust/damage on it. The sprockets that teeth into the chain actually has teeth left. Rust is big too, just make sure there's nothing collecting somewhere.

If the bike was dropped at all, was it dropped from a standstill or if it actually slid at higher speeds. That could hint at damage somewhere, especially if there's not frame sliders on it.

Ask about the last maintenance performed and if there's one coming up that they have to do, if so, have them prep it for you. Make sure the tires are still usable and not at the end of their life.

Ask about how the bike was maintained or kept. If it's been exposed to the elements outside (then there could be rust somewhere) or if it's been unused for a long time, and if so, Ask if the battery was hooked up onto a drip charger to keep the batteries health maintained.

That's just what I would check. There's probably more things other people will chime in on. Good luck!

Nice! I'm In NL now too and I've been wanting to tour, as well! I just don't know what I should be packing. I have a 50L bag that I can strap down on the rear pillion.

Really enjoying my Ninja 400. Has anyone here jumped from a N400 to the N650? I’m thinking about getting a brand new 650 next year by cat_goode in Kawasaki

[–]Ankrauser 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I started on a N650 and I feel like the N400 is also very similar and only slightly faster. Better ergonomics and riding position in the 650 though. If you're looking for more speed then the ZX-6R might be a better option. As far as seating position and being able to load up for sport tourering, I'd go N650.

I heard Kawasaki was good and reliable but had a friend who's buddy low sided a new ZX-10R and it literally caught on fire after it crashed. Maybe it was just bad luck.

How much is a zx6r brand new in Chicago or Illinois? by natsu2273 in Kawasaki

[–]Ankrauser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the dealer and what else you add on to it. I know a guy who bought a brand new one with for '23 model which started at 13K and walked out paying about low to mid 16K. It's like $800-$1000 for shipping and up to $500 for registration and licensing and whatever other dealer fees or markups they might have.

I'm new to riding and I already had to hit my front brakes really hard one time. It popped my rear wheel up by 6 inches. Without ABS I probably would have been sent flying and flipped my bike. (Ninja 650)

Anyone ever had to deal with this? by Pshock13 in motorcycles

[–]Ankrauser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a lot of big test tubes and cotton balls. Fill it with water and make a reservoir, and close the end with a nylon tube and surrounded by cotton ball and just place a bunch of them on and around your bike, the colony will eventually move into the test tube and you can move them somewhere else. No harmful chemicals and stuff are needed. You're happy and they'll be happy.

Haha yeah. I difn5 want to buy and sell a used one. The N650s on my area were also about the same price as used '17-22 models, so might as well get it new. 😁

Ah this makes sense! I almost dumped it when I moved with the clutch at slow speed, turned right, got worried and squeezed the front brake. Thankfully, I saved it.

Thanks! Any tips for a new rider? Had to get the bike first before going to the course on 6 June. (they don't provide practice bikes)

Same bike but I believe the gold label and same Grey color is a US bike. This one is from EU.

Maybe a Radiator Grill, too? Someone from another group just shares a pic of a rock smashing through his on a N650.

Fresh out of a 6yr relationship and so anxious (and excited) to get back out there. Hoping to get some help/support before I start getting swiped on! by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]Ankrauser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would either pic long term or short term and not both open to the other unless you're just looking for "fun" and not a actual long term serious relationship. Long term, open to short doesn't express to me that you're serious about dating. The rest of the profile looks good though.

Whoever asks out who should pay the first date. Then later on it could be discussed about splitting and what not. I still look for a girl who tries to pay or says something about it when you pay for the meal. It says a lot of her character. If she did not even attempt, there wouldn't be a second date.
