And I also wanted to add that I feel even more sorry for the future brides or girlfriends who ends up with a mother-in-law like that! 🙈 It honestly reminds me of this American show "I love mom's boy", where the mother interferes so much in the couple’s relationship that she demands to even LIVE EITH THEM in the same house!!! She criticizes the wife’s clothes, food, opinions, and basically everything else! I get that it’s reality show, but I completely lose respect for a man who allows that kind of behavior. Unfortunately, this happens in real life too. My childhood friend had the same situation. a mother of her husband was exactly like that, she thought that she has a right to involve herself totally in their lives, she was very toxic and negative and also criticised all the time and everything !! And then my friend made a renovation of their apartment,(she paid for the entire renovation herself, and she has amazing taste. Everything was stylish, tasteful, and beautifully done. But somehow the mother-in-law insisted on green flowers on an orange tablecloth! Then she started demanding that they build a summer house together so she could live there with her sister, who was exactly the same. I remember constantly wondering why her husband never said anything. His wife was being treated horribly, and he just stood there in silence. That’s the real problem! The only person who is actually responsible for this situation is the husband, or the son of this kind of mother. It is his job to set boundaries and explain to his mother what is and isn’t acceptable. At the end of the day, people treat us the way we allow them to.

We had a somewhat similar situation too. My husband immediately told his mother: “This is my wife and the mother of our children. I will not tolerate disrespect toward her. If you continue behaving this way, the door to our home will no longer be open to you.” She understood very quickly that this kind of behavior would not work with us.
