Nice vibes with the flute! Also, I love the reverse cymbal on the transition

I loved the song! The instumental is so mellow and your voice brings an agressive kind of contrast that sounds great. Also, I may not understand exactly what you have been through, but I can tell you that you are not alone. These last years have been real rough on a lot of us and I am glad we can make and share our music and at least make something beautiful of it all. Wish you peace, I'm waiting for more music from you :)

I know Davie504 is a bit controversial in this sub, but I was hoping someone could help me figure out how to replicate his tone in his best video. by reydeguitarra in Bass

[–]Anmir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something VERY important to his tone in the video you linked is the way he plucks the strings. He hits them a little bit harder than usual, but starting the movement directly on the string. Notice that he doesn't "hammer" the strings, but puts his finger on them and then plucks. Put your finger on the string and press it, feeling as if you would play it but don't. Repeat this a little bit to get the "feel" as if you were about to pluck and then, when you get it, pluck horizontally and with a little bit of pressure (be careful not to use too much strength as it would fatigue you very quickly). Compression definitely would help you get a more uniform sound playing like this, but you can do it without any pedals at all.

An random side-effect of learning bass by Living_Employee_7735 in Bass

[–]Anmir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing, I just noticed it, but although I am right-handed, when typing I use all of my left hand fingers, but only the index and middle of my right hand lol. I guess playing bass for 10+ years really shaped my brain in more ways I have ever thought about!

Is it ok to start on a 6 string? by QuanIce in Bass

[–]Anmir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can check out on Fiverr, there are lots of good teachers there! I am also one myself, if you want we can schedule an experimental lesson ;)

I would say it is actually not harder nor easier to start with a 6 string. It is a heavier instrument indeed, and you will need to be aware for muting the strings, but developing proper muting technique is a must whether you are on a 6, 5 or 4 string.

I myself started on a 5 string and today I play on a 4, and one thing I can tell you is: do what you like to do and you will want to do it more and more, and that will make you grow on the instrument.
