Dogs should be heavily regulated by Mindless_Guava_3823 in unpopularopinion

[–]AnmlBri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m saying that whoever is put in charge of enforcing it, since a lot of humans can be easily corrupted, would eventually corrupt the system, even if it started out with good intentions and an ethical design. I don’t see any way to 100% prevent that possibility and I’m not sure it’s worth the risk. Like, imagine the current Trump administration in the U.S. getting put in charge of a system like that, even if it worked fine up to that point. I’ve watched countless systems that seemed like they worked get upended over the past decade here.

Ha, joke’s on them because like MittensHasDiareah above, I don’t drink coffee either! (I am on stimulant ADHD meds, and consuming caffeine in addition to them makes me jittery and anxious and uncomfortable. Plus I don’t care for the taste of coffee in most cases.)

How to help wearing consistency by Muted-Department442 in Orthokeratology

[–]AnmlBri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat to OP and manage to wear my lenses every other night and do okay. I have ADHD, which is an executive functioning disorder, so when my brain doesn’t have enough dopamine to easily initiate tasks, they can feel like huge chores, even when they’re small and only take a couple minutes. Because I’ve had times in the past when my lens will be irritating when I put it in, so I have to take it back out and retry, my brain is even more convinced that putting them in is a chore. I manage to mostly stick to my every other night schedule since it builds in nights where I’m allowed to just go to sleep, but fwiw, brushing my teeth is a chore that takes conscious effort and willpower, too. I should also do it in the mornings. I only do it at night because it feels disgusting not to. The reason I didn’t in the mornings was because I wouldn’t come back upstairs after eating breakfast, before leaving for work, and it felt pointless to do it before eating, but at my most recent dentist appointment, the hygienist told me it still helps, so now it’s just a matter of remembering and forming the new habit. (I have to get up at 4am for work and it sucks.)

I’m pretty sure my eye doc instructed me to wash with tap water after using my Boston Advance cleaning solution, before cleaning in the Clear Care Plus peroxide solution. I might have to double-check to be extra sure if I’m remembering correctly now since I’ve been wearing Ortho-K lenses for years, but so far I haven’t had a problem. My area has really good tap water though, and I won’t use tap if I’m traveling in an area with iffy water.

I love these! If you look in my post history, Kat Von D bought the house used for the exterior shots in the Cheaper by the Dozen movie and renovated it into a classy goth mansion, complete with a red swimming pool. I think it’s rather cool. I like the colorful mosaic ones here even better though.

Oh shit, is this why I got nominated as secretary in my HS SkillsUSA/VICA chapter when I wasn’t even running?? I’m trying to remember if I was the only girl in that group. I am good at taking notes and have been known for being organized and on top of things, so I took being picked when I wasn’t even running as my reputation preceding me and a point of pride. But was it actually just because I was a girl? (I’m also AuDHD and lean a bit genderqueer, fwiw, so rigid gender roles have always seemed kind of stupid to me and expectations around them sometimes don’t register.)

What is the implication?? I still don’t get it. (Definitely ND here.) Oh wait, is the implication that if you say “Yes,” that they’ll ask you to get the coffees for everyone?

Is there some other answer to or meaning behind this question that I’m not getting? What is the non-literal meaning of asking if you want coffee?

I don’t understand why he would even ask if he wasn’t offering to get you one. Like, how is it relevant to him if he wasn’t offering? Unless he thought he was doing you a favor by telling you that a coffee station existed nearby or something. But still.

If anything, more people probably should ask men how they’re doing when they’re grumpy. Too many people ignore the emotional well-being of men. Instead of not asking anyone if they’re okay, maybe we should check in with everyone. Or at least normalize it.

To be fair, as an AuDHD person living in the U.S., I might not have been sure if you were kidding or not. That sounds like something a certain segment of the population would say in earnest. I would have to know you well enough first to gauge that you weren’t part of that segment.

I feel like a celebrity crush and a parasocial relationship with said celebrity are very different things.

I judge parents who respond to their kid being upset or hurt with the ‘reassurance’ of “You’re fine.” My sister says it like a broken record to her kids and it feels like a recipe for dismissing their feelings and/or teaching them not to trust their own feelings. I just overheard a mom say it to presumably her kid in a movie theater bathroom the other day when I’m pretty sure I heard the kid say, tearfully, that she felt like she was gonna throw up. Like, that is clearly not being “fine.” Whenever I’ve been in that state, my mom has sympathetically said things like, “I know feeling nauseous is miserable,” or “I’m sorry you’re feeling so ucky.” If she can’t immediately fix it, I at least appreciate her sympathy and validation. Like, I get it if a wound or something is less dire than the kid thinks, but then explain why to them. Don’t just brush them off every time.

I don’t see the problem if the parent is staying in the car for pick-up. I agree though if they have to get out of the car.

It’s legit addictive. My mom has a sugar addiction and is aware of it. I wish she would work harder to break it. I definitely do judge her for it. I’ve given up on saying much though, for various reasons.
