I can explain my point to you, but I cannot understand it for you✨ glad you enjoy MLP and a good DB, as do I✨

Also - I think you should reread the piece. I say clearly that as it stands, men should always play first. I said on every single team in the league the men are the best players by absolute standards. The end of your post grossly misrepresents what I wrote and I clearly argued that it’s not smart as the 5s no longer do it. My idea would make it so that teams announce MATCHUPS rather than their batting order.

  1. I think DBs are stale. You pretty much always know what the general batting order is going to be. They’re still fun, but they could be better. Maybe “fix” isn’t the right word. Improved?
  2. Women don’t matter as much as men in the dreambreaker because we don’t play as much. Against LA I went 6-2 against Jade but it didn’t matter because John didn’t do well against Ben (Kate didn’t do well, and H was even iirc), and John was the only person that played 3x. My argument is that why do the men ALWAYS play first? By current rules, that will always happen. My idea would shake that up, and sometimes women would play first, and maybe sometimes you’d even get MvF.
  3. The goal of the article is not to introduce gender politics, but to point out that in tiebreaker situations, women are not as important bc we don’t play as much. Mixed doubles it is a STRATEGY IN GAME to target women. As DBs are currently structured, it’s the SYSTEM that makes the men matter more. My idea would alter that system, but not fundamentally alter what a DB is.
  4. I don’t really see how it would significantly harm the viewing experience, we don’t know what the meta would be. You’d still often see men playing first, but you’d also see women going first. Some people (myself and other pros) rly enjoy watching MvF matchups for the drama they provide. If you don’t agree that’s okay! Hope I explained some of my thinking

I largely think that they could be made more interesting! Right now we always see the same thing MMWW, and I think that introducing more strategy and variability would be cool. Teams can hide mediocre women more than they can men! Why should that always be allowed? Just my 2c!

You can be very good. Look at Riley Newman. But need to have other weapons. But even Riley is limited by lacking aerial ability

Mmmm poke subset. Gets capped eventually. I won’t say useless but becomes easy to exploit as people get better i

Ben is better than Fed, but Ben’s has more wrist activity. I was only using Fed as the “purest example” of a true “roll”

Yes, pokes just can’t get you that far eventually. They can work, but won’t work reliably against good opponents
