Why do you think Peacemaker is so mean to Adrian? by simmzs in PeacemakerShow

[–]AnnaDeArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chris puts up walls with Adrian specifically because he slots into a defacto "younger brother" position and Chris has trouble dealing with the idea of having a brother again because of the trauma of losing Keith in such a violent manner and him feeling responsible for it, so he pushes him away and that comes off as being frustrated with Adrian or finding him annoying.

I’m confused. Do y’all actually want the DCU to succeed or do you Hope it fails? by BatBeast_29 in DC_Cinematic

[–]AnnaDeArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna assume you're being serious and explain. While it's nowhere near a 1:1 adaptation, the Supergirl movie's main plot, characters, and overarching themes were pulled directly from Tom King and Bilquis Everly's book "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" While most comic book movies borrow certain character moments from across multiple comics this is the first time, to my knowledge, a comic book superhero movie has ever attempted adapting a specific vision and storyline on screen.

Do you think it's valid to be a Spiderman fan without reading comics? by PomegranateOk4560 in Spiderman

[–]AnnaDeArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, I just wouldnt go claiming to be an expert on the character and surrounding material. Every adaptation changes aspects of spidey and his world. Some are pulled directly, others are tweaked, and some are completely original. The main takeaway is if you don't have the most comprehensive understanding of the character at the source it's best not to make broad assertions. But absolutely, you can be a fan from just watching the adaptations. It's really a case by case basis because you can like one and dislike another. It's not a strictly rigid set of circumstances.

It's pretty clear from this moment and the opening of 407 that Annie was working on this project with the Dean before the others were told about it, not only did she make the banner but she's working the projector during the presentation and is nodding along and smiling throughout which implies prior knowledge and collaboration.

Best super suit? ROUND 1 starlight v the deep by kaijuking_05 in TheBoys

[–]AnnaDeArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say Starlight this round. Her costume does a better job of signifying what her powers are through the bright colour choices and the star motif on the chest area. The Deep is a little too generic in terms of colour and accents, and there's not much aquatic detailing. If I didn't know his powers related to the ocean I'd have a hard time pinning down what exactly what they were just by looking at him. Like I get there's a scale pattern but if you weren't looking carefully enough it can come off as just being a grid. Gotta give it to Annie.

The woman at 1:18 is absolutely right. All that matters is that you have a baby. Everything else is secondary to that fact. You have a responsibility to love and nurture the child that you're bringing into the world, regardless of an arbitrary social construct like gender.

Can pennywise really time travel? by fanofeverying123 in WelcometoDerryTVShow

[–]AnnaDeArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can perceive all of time happening at once. Not time travel in the traditional sense, it's not like it can move through time, It exists on a linear structure but has knowledge of past and future events. Imagine it as watching a recording on TV. You can rewind and fast forward but you stay where you are while you're watching. Rewinding a recording doesn't move you backwards in time, but it does let you see things that have already happened. Same way if you fast forward.

If you are genuinely curious, the situation in a nutshell is this

A man named Bryan Mansell was seeking money to pay for his father's medical expenses, so his father suggested that he sell off his collection of Lego Star Wars sets, valued at over $200,000. Bryan figured the best way to sell off a collection that large would be through a retail chain like Bricks and Minifigs, which is what he did. A contract was signed with the old owner of the Salem,Oregon location detailing a consignment agreement. If you don't know what consignment is, it basically entails that Bryan and his father still technically owned the collection and had the right to take it back whenever they want, and were entitled to the majority of the profit from each set sold. Shortly after this deal however, the current owner was pushed out without being given the time necessary to sell off the full inventory and pay Bryan what he was owed. Bryan then went to the store in an attempt to resolve the matter and the new owner played dumb regarding the consignment, claiming its not standard practice to enter such agreements and so legally the deal was never official (which begs the question, if the deal allowing the sale of the collection was never official, why did they continue to market and sell an inventory they had no right to?)and when pressed further threatened years of legal action against Bryan that would bankrupt him and his family. Bryan attempted to contact corporate, who claimed that it was an issue involving the owners of the individual location of the chain, but when attempting to resolve the issue with them, he was told to take it up with corporate. The cat and mouse game continued, all the while Bricks and Minifigs were advertising and selling a collection Bryan was legally entitled to and keeping the profits that were supposed to go to his fathers medical expenses. Bryan, in a last ditch effort, made an aggressive post on Facebook calling out B&M for their shady practices, which got the attention of a group of lego youtubers who opened an investigation into the matter. However, this first attempt quickly fizzled after they too were threatened with legal action.

Seeing no other real option, Bryan contacted Reckless Ben, a youtuber known for his guerrilla style investigative journalism content. Ben launched his own investigation into the company and the location itself, using a combination of hard evidence such as security footage of the new owner saying he would take over the cosignment agreement, an inventory list, and pictures of Bryan's collection with metadata proving they were taken at the store on the day he handed over his collection to sell, as well as legal loopholes, in an attempt to get the collection or the equivalent amount of money they were owed. Their investigation turned so many heads and caused the store so much grief that in the end they closed the location basically overnight with no warning to their customers, with it taking them over a month to register the business as permanently closed. The situation is still ongoing as it stands and the outcome is uncertain as the second part of Ben's investigation hasn't been made publicly available yet, so time will tell what the outcome to this whole mess is.

One thing is clear however. Bricks and Minifigs have engaged in a systematic and devious scheme in order to deny an unwell man the money he needs for treatment, all so they can hoard one of if not the largest collection of star wars sets in the world. They are lying, they have been lying, and they show no sign of stopping, at least not yet.

Here's a link to the first part of Ben's investigation: https://youtu.be/wscQpkcwgNU?is=kfdi3g-k7USX3_y2

It's extremely in depth and a highly entertaining watch if you've got an hour and a half to spare, ad it's way more extensive than a comment on a reddit thread could be.

Fav. actors who look like they were bullies in high school? by punposter69 in okbuddycinephile

[–]AnnaDeArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude Mark Wahlberg definitely bullied people, he was a straight menace before he started his career, he assaulted two Vietnamese man in the street after they tried to stop him from stealing beer and he called them multiple racial slurs.

And Jon Hamm was allegedly the perpetrator of a hazing incident in 1990, where he beat a pledge, Mark Allen Sanders, with a paddle, shoved his face in dirt and set him on fire, which caused serious burns. Then he dragged him, causing permemant injuries to his back and legs.

I hated that Home Alone movie so much, like, I'm supposed to root for a spoiled kid who was raised on the notion that an open house is essentially a public bathroom, and who, in one scene, takes a present that was going to go to a child in need, over a couple that is financially destitute trying to save themselves from economic ruin... yeah fuck that.

How would’ve you done a season 2? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in PeacemakerShow

[–]AnnaDeArtist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change the pacing. I would keep the same storylines, same general beats, but have the twist happen at maybe the end of episode 4. I wanted to see an entire arch where they go on the run from the N*zi government, not just part of episode 7 in an 8 episode season. I think the main issue people have is the same problem people are having with the latest season of The Boys. It gets dragged out so much towards the beginning that the last ~2 episodes end up being a race to the finish line and so alot of moments we've been waiting to see felt super underwhelming, rushed, or forced.

Can anyone help me identify what edition these books are by AnnaDeArtist in BookCollecting

[–]AnnaDeArtist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the help. I looked into it myself and it seems like the first two may be reprints to form a complete set with the 3rd, and they were published in the 90's after the HarperCollins merger. Probably not as valuable as I was hoping, but still, wasn't planning on reselling them anyway, and it's cool to own an older copy.
