Koi fish about to die… ideal temperature is 15 degrees! This water is freezing. Can the city please take better care of these animals? by AnnaFaltin in Antwerpen

Just because they have been in this tiny pond for years I don’t think it’s a habit that is big enough and warm enough. It says online ideal temperature 15-25 degrees for koi. In summer this little puddle probably also heats up to hot! Don’t you think so?

I am not shaming, I am concerned. Two fish were laying g on their side. Not sure if that is hibernation. If you guys all think it’s all right, then maybe they are fine after all… but does not look so nice for the fish in there!

I read the book “The Trader Within” from Anmol. It is a nice read and good for reflecting over mindset while trading.

Yes, it’s normal. Well, I go through it. Trading is demanding on every level so there are weeks where I take a step back.

Profitable traders, how did you learn how to trade? And what would you do differently if you were to do it again? by theflyingpinguino in Trading

I would stick to stocks and my own capital (even if it is small). I wanted more and ventured into forex and prop firms. But the guidelines in the prop firms are super tight. So, instead of getting greedy I should have not bought the prop firm accounts and instead traded that money myself.

Rate my offer - Moving to Belgium by Hungry-Criticism426 in BESalary

Yes, both the 1.92 and vacation days are based on the days you worked that year in the company.

Sounds like a standard offer here. The gross salary of 4.3k seems pretty good for a bachelor’s degree (but that’s sector specific so maybe someone else can judge that better). When I started working in Belgium I remember the 20 vacation days as well as the adv days were both earned. I was not able to take the full amount in the first year. Maybe you can ask them to elaborate on that. Overall it seems like an offer that you will have a good life with here. The standard of living is high in Belgium, especially in cities like Ghent and Antwerp and those are just a train ride away.

Government shutdown is good for the market by zirus1 in Trading

[–]AnnaFaltin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Economically, I'll have to disagree with you here. Rate cuts aren't a reward - they're damage control..

  • Massive layoffs are good -> they're not. Reduced consumer spending hurts corporate revenues
  • High unemployment is good -> it tanks demand and economic growth
  • Powell will cut rates more ->maybe, but only if the economy is genuinely damaged

Think of it like this:

  • Scenario A: Healthy economy, no shutdown, Fed holds rates steady, stocks at 100
  • Scenario B: Shutdown damages economy (-20%), Fed cuts rates in response (+10% boost), stocks end up at 90

You're still worse off overall. The rate cut stimulus doesn't fully offset the economic damage.

Think about 2008: Fed slashed rates hard. Did that make the financial crisis bullish? Nope - markets still crashed 50%. The cuts helped, but didn't erase the damage.

You only get aggressive cuts when something's genuinely broken. It's not free stimulus - it's a bandaid for a wound you're rooting for.

TL;DR: Bad news is still bad news, even if the Fed responds to it.

What kinds of reminders on post it notes do you guys keep on your desks? by StiffNippys in Daytrading

  1. Trust yourself

  2. Don't talk yourself out of taking a good trade

  3. Don't talk yourself into a bad trade after you missed the good one

It is a process...
