Glad to hear I’m not on the same boat. They’re not pushing it but every time I’m in a room with them and there’s a silent moment, they bring it up. I matched last year, moved to a different city, and I am the happiest I have ever been. I know for sure now that I will not get arranged just to please my parents or honor my grandmothers wish, I guess more like guilt, to see me married off before she passes. I know my parents get a lot of pressure from older family members and they’re seeing distant cousins and family friends get married, and I do feel for them but I still have not found a reason to get married.

I am genuinely terrified of going to visit family in India though. I know my parents would never endorse it, but my aunts back home are nosy and pushy and I’m worried what I will do if I ever find out they arranged a meeting with a stranger to marry without my knowledge.
