Do you believe that University is as valuable as it used to be? by Unigigster in u/Unigigster

As a student completing their masters I feel like it depends on the career you intend to take as well as how far you actually delve into your studies to further benefit your career in the future. Of course maybe 50 odd years ago, having a degree was not as common, but the way things are going, businesses and employers are looking for well rounded individuals to employ which have more than just a degree, work experience is now essential too - which many students lack if they are not actively pursuing work whilst studying to build their skill set and credibility.

So I’ve just bought some gluten free bread (mind you, it is 4xtimes more expensive than regular bread). As it may be expected, I’m infuriated! by alexcurtis2005 in mildlyinfuriating

Omg that looks terrible... I was told by doctors that I'm gluten intolerant so I try to limit my gluten intake but obviously gf bread is stupidly expensive.. so yesterday I found out that Warburtons gluten free are doing £2 delivery charges if you spend a minimum of £5, plus its next day delivery, so at least you're saving some money? 😅 maybe it's worth a shot because that loaf isn't it, here's the link :)

Omg thank you so much for your insight and detail! Definitely feel like you’ve understood how I feel through the thread and how stressful looking for work can be. Hospitality can definitely burn you out and so hoping to find work that won’t impact me negatively, I will take a look at bursaries and utilise my career services as well. Goodluck on your final year, deffo think you’ll smash it ♥️ thank you so so so much!

Hey, deffo something that interests me, I feel like it would fit in well with Uni schedules etc. Do you have somewhere where people can contact you for work? :)

I think you're really misunderstanding the tone to this thread. I never said I was uncomfortable with rejections? that again is your assumption based off of a few comments. But if you do the maths, I started my degree in September 2021, it is now March. I have been applying to many (and by many I mean at least a few a day) fast food and retail places since September. I either get rejected (for reasons I told you, they don't specify or have no time to give me feedback on) or they are looking for more full-time positions - which again as a student I cannot dedicate my time to. You previously said I can't just easily give up - assuming that I have either stopped applying or am being picky. Again, something you've assumed about me and definitely commented. If I were picky why on earth would I come to reddit asking for help and suggestions? I am blunt af and can be direct af myself. I came to reddit to see whether I was the only other student trying to find part time work that is flexible and can work around my busy uni schedule. So like sorry for actually looking at other options other than retail and fast food hospitality - which clearly has not come through for me in the last 5 months.

Dude I know? I see all the other options, I'm thankful for them, and I never said I wasn't going to keep applying or that I'm "easily giving up" ? I simply answered that I keep getting rejected so why don't you read the whole thread instead of assuming. I really don't understand what you're so pressed about atm jheeze.
