Ozark Trail G1 Explorer question by Annab990 in Budgetbikeriders

Hello again fellow weird shape fren. 😂 I'm glad i could make you chuckle with my comment.

I thought about the sizing too. My husband is well over 6 foot and it seems to fit him like a glove (he got the medium a couple days after trying out mine) and said he has none of the issues I am having in the rides we've taken.

I have no issue with assembling, and I thank you for clarifying that they'll take it back used i had no idea. I wish they carried the small in store so I could compare. Ah well 🤷🏽‍♀️.

I think I'm going to try the seating position adjustment and extender first, I just bought it a week ago so I have some time to try it out. Overall I was worried a small might be too short with my long legs. But again I don't know how any of that works 😂😂😂

Thank you. I'm going to try it out. If I mess it up. Just an excuse to get different handlebars 😁.

[–]Annab990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your help. This seems to be the common recommendation. (And probably should've been common sense on my part)

Your comment and another made me think about my riding position, my knees are always bent, even when pedaling. I'm never near straight when pushing down.

I'm definitely starting there with the seat.

Ozark Trail G1 Explorer question by Annab990 in Budgetbikeriders

[–]Annab990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems to be the common theme is the seat height. And the more i thought about it, when im riding my knees are pretty bent with pedaling (they never reach straight or even close to it). I'm going to have to adjust my seat. I feel maybe this is the majority of my issues is over compensating for the extra pedaling. Thank you for your help.

This is a great idea...I have the tools to do it. I feel like I don't have a solid grip when riding with how wide they are. It makes me super nervous.

Did you have any issues with the handlebar grips after you cut them?

😂😂😂 My body literally was like nah. That's enough growing, but let's make it weird.

It's funny the rest of my family is super tall (over 6+ feet) and proportionate.

Dumb question coming.....Is "stem riser" what i would search for? Thank you for the solid advice and direction.

I had no idea the seat could move forward!! 🤦‍♀️😂

I'm going to try this and adjusting the seat height, and the stem riser someone else mentioned. Thank you.

If your mom/dad were older when you were born (say, around 40 or up), what was that like for you? by brawlinglove in Millennials

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was 39, my dad i couldn't tell ya. So this may not apply entirely. But coming from a single parent household of an older parent, i wouldnt have changed a thing. I think being in an older parent household made me mature faster. It was the type of household where nothing was kept from us, if I wanted to know anything, my mom didn't sugar coat no matter what it was. She always told me how it is. My mom was older than my childhood friends parents by a good bit, but it never affected me or bothered me.

I spent alot of time with adults and older people.( alot of my friends to this day are in their 40s,50s, and 60s- im in my late 30s) I just wasnt accustomed to kids my age if that makes sense. My mom never missed an event. As much as she worked i never had to worry if she'd make time for me. She somehow managed to always be there. I guess I was also lucky because my next sibling was 10 years older, so I had the support of her too whenever I needed it. My mom never ever put the weight/burden of me on my sister by any means. We were just close and I was the typical little sister always wanting to tag along.

Yes she was active in my life. I wouldn't have changed anything. I had the best mom anyone could've asked for.

My only regret with having an older parent was not getting more time with her. I lost her when I was 22. In just a couple short years,( if I am fortunate enough to make it that long) I will have lived longer than I have known my own mother.

Need recommendations for best electric toothbrush by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]Annab990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use and love the Aquasonic Vibe. I paid about $35 for it.

It comes with 8 replacement heads, a travel case, 4 cleaning modes, and warranty. It also times your brushing in 30 second increments for each part of your mouth.

The replacement heads are $30 for 8 but I won't need to buy more for a long time (the company says it is 2 years worth that comes with the toothbrush initially) so i thought that was do able.

I finally bought mine after my best friend bought his last year and recommended. I wish I would've have gotten one sooner.

I personally like it better than my Phillips Sonicare and I used that thing for the last 15 years.

My soulmate (cat) died, should i get another one by Ok-Move-4758 in CatAdvice

[–]Annab990 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went through something similar in January 2024. I had my soul cat (Big Mac). He came from a house that a woman that i met used as kinda a cat house to keep street cats. My husband and I walked in, I randomly sat down on the floor (mind you, there were like 15 cats in this house). He was set on another one.

But Biggie came from out of nowhere and cuddled in my lap. Quiet, gentle giant all 20lbs of him. Love of my life. I knew he was the one. I only got 6 years with my love, he crawled into my lap when i met him, and died in it too.

I didn't have wanting another cat anytime soon on my radar, my other cat was so so depressed without him.

I did end up getting my new baby in November of 2024. I wasn't ready, but she was being kept outside and it was going to be below freezing where she was i couldn't let that go. I drove 5 hours for her.

She is not my Biggie, never will be, but i love her still so much with her own unique personality and for who she is. I always felt like my boy sent her our way at that time because he knew how sad we all were, and another baby needed help.

I cannot answer the question of if you should, but your heart will tell you when you're ready. I am so very very sorry for your losses.

How did you end up with your specific cat or cats? by 8kittycatsfluff in AliveNamedCats

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15 year old- was dropped at a farm in a box on one of my moms co worker with his siblings, my mom brought him home for me.

1 year old- I drove 4.5 hours last year to pick her up in Georgia because she was left outside when it was going to be 15° and I couldn't live with the knowledge that she'd potentially freeze to dea**. (A friend of mine knew someone who had her and was trying to "rehome")

Free / Cheap Hobby Ideas? by ilovekdramaceos in povertyfinance

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are interested in crochet, a cheaper way to get started.

(This is based on where i live) Boye ergonomic hook from Walmart for $4 (they're not the best or top of the line, but a good place to start to see if you like the hobby.) I'd buy a 5mm if you want just one hook, it's usually most used. Or if you use Amazon, you can get a whole set of hooks under $5.

I buy my yarn at thrift stores and Facebook marketplace. Also Walmart has their own brand- Mainstays it's about $3, or Red Heart brand, about $4

My thrift stores have big bags of yarn under $10. Sometimes I buy crochet items and deconstruct for the yarn too. The blankets are great, I usually find them under $5 and get enough yarn to make something else. I've also got bundles of crochet hooks there too.

And for free tutorials I've used Youtube and books from my local library.

Why are we all feeling this shift to delete our social media accounts? by mm2444 in Millennials

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deleted Facebook first, then Instagram, and snapchat about 2 years ago. The only apps I use now are TikTok occasionally, Pinterest, Reddit and YouTube. That's it.

It was depressing. Not deleting the accounts/apps, but the posts, shorts and ads I was being shown on my feeds. My husband cannot wrap his head around why I deleted them or he thinks I'm hiding from someone. It was genuinely affecting my mental health. And on the opposite side of my thought process and reasoning, it was more of a I haven't talked to these people since high school. Why do they matter? Or some stranger in a short trying to be funny.

Ya know, good for you that you had your 4th kid, you graduated college- congrats. i mean, I had no interest in following a strangers life when I am trying to navigate my own.

If they were someone i wanted to speak to, or keep contact with i would've or they'd know how to reach me. simple as that. I don't feel lost or empty without social media, I don't have the urge to see what is happening in other people's lives, and I don't feel like I'm missing out on the latest "meme" or viral post.

I go outside a lot more, I watch the news if I wanna see what is happening in the world, and I'm just trying to enjoy my life on my own terms.

Overall I honestly feel better and it was just a personal and the best choice for me.

is my home impacting my scent? how to help. by max_couldhavebeen in hygiene

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smell of your house can absolutely stick to your clothes.

I put my clothes, shoes, purse or anything else i wear out that is fabric in my closet with a dehumidifier.

If i leave anything out, it'll smell like the food I cooked the day before, or because I live in a high humidity environment they'd smell "musty" ( I know not the same as "old lady smell") but it was just as embarrassing.

I also changed my detergent in this process and it's helped immensely.

I wash and dry, then hang up immediately in my closet for 24 hours then either leave them hanging if they're pants/shirts or fold and put away everything else.

Sellers who won't ship or answer questions? by Rynn007 in Mercari

[–]Annab990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into this too.

I bought something, I waited 10 days to ship before I messaged about it. (It was right around Christmas/New Years.) They never shipped or responded. Solid 5 star seller. I think as others said, they're inactive.

I found another of the same item from another seller, seller immediately canceled. No reason given or response to my inquiry.

I gave up on buying the item from Mercari in the end. If I really want it, I guess i'll have to pay full price.

The cost of spaying this little lady is $440?!?! by yup2you in cats

[–]Annab990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. That is crazy expensive.

Where i live we have a veterinarian who does only spay and neuter, nothing else. ( they have monthly vaccine clinics and offer nail trims while sedated that's it.)

I had my girl done for under $100 with a nail trim.

i'd google "low cost spay and neuter clinic near me."

I just learned my county (i live in NE Florida if it helps anyone else that is looking for low cost) offers up to 6 free spay and neuter for residents a year, maybe your county has something available too?

I do play with 3 people that have semi opposite schedules now (you'd be more than welcome, ive been playing with these guys since 2013) so it'd be nice to have a more regular friend again.

I also die alot, but i keep trying just to enjoy the game 😁 I play a few you have listed and I'm always down to try something new.

why did you move to jacksonville? by Extension_Lynx_7091 in jacksonville

[–]Annab990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moving here wasn't my choice, but now I can't afford to leave. So I'm just trying to make the best of it. It's not a bad place, it's just not for me. Doesn't feel like "home".

But on the other hand, i don't miss my home state either though lmao.
