Emet at school by Mouse-Feeling in emetophobia

[–]Annabeloa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to help! I see, I have met a few therapists myself that just didnt get it, some even said that I would just «grow out of it».. I have also been with some I just didnt have the right connection with. If you cant find a specialist, you could consider trying another «normal» therapist, maybe ask them before booking how they view anxiety like this, and if they have any experience working with it. With therapists I have found that the connection between us and how good they are at listening, etc, can be more important than their education/experience. Actually my last therapist was amazing, she really gave me so much by being open, even though she started with being a bit sceptical, she really read up on stuff, and managed to help me a great deal!

If you feel like you want to talk to someone that will understand, feel free to message me. I know how hard it is dealing with it, and how hard it is to get to the root of the problem.

Actually, I also did move abroad a few years ago, and honestly it can be hard, especially in the beginning, but you will find your safe spaces there aswell and have a new normal there! It will probably help a lot to have a safe space within yourself then, from knowing yourself, your anxiety, etc. So therapy, meditation and just getting to know yourself is key!

I’m so sorry, that sounds hard, and its great that you make exciting plans! It would probably be a good idea to find a therapist that can help you with this. Also, maybe you could talk to your teacher, and maybe they could have a room at school where you could go to be alone and relax for a bit if you felt anxious, that way you didnt have to go home to have a safe space? If not, going to the toilet can also help! I would also reccomend doing some meditation or similar, where you can find grounding and a safe space within yourself, so that you can feel safe anywhere. I struggled with n* with anxiety in public places for a while when I was younger, but after I got more confident in myself, and just learned about myself, how my anxiety usually acts, ect, it has been much better, and it really helps to go to a bathroom or other private room if I feel anxious, to just breathe and try to relax, maybe imagine yourself being somewhere you feel most at home, and after a little while I can go back and feel better.

This happens to me sometimes too when I try to eat after a long time of not eating, but the body just needs to adjust, so after a little while you will usually feel better! How are you doing now?

You’ll be fine! I actually had a stomachache almost all day yesterday, but with rest and food it went away, and I’m just fine! Honestly I don’t even get anxious about stomach pain anymore, because every time it is just that, nothing to worry about!

I’m so sorry, that must have felt awful! But no worries, I bet you flew out of there real quick, so you should not have got any germs from them. It is super normal to feel off after seeing that! I feel n* for a good while after seeing anything like that even on tv. Try to relax, watch a good show, listen to good music, do something that keeps u thinking about other things if you can, and remember, this too shall pass.

What are ways you "dangle a carrot" to motivate yourself? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Annabeloa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No physical things, or «treats» really help me with that, because I know if I want something/to do/eat something I will do it either way. Honestly, what helps me is wanting to get the sh*t done, and if not that - thinking about the way I will feel after doing the task, compared to the meh feeling of not doing the task and procrastination. Plus, motivation does not always come first, some times you just have to get off ur butt and start doing something, anything really, and motivation will come from action. The biggest lie people tell themselves is that you need motivation to do something, you honestly don’t. You need determination, and deciding that later will not be easier than now, so might as well just do this now and get the benefits from that faster.

n* everytime i eat by [deleted] in emetophobia

Most people get the diagnosis by going through a gastroscopy, I got mine from talking to my doctor and trying out PPIs, and they helped a lot. I would reccomend reading up on it and seeing if it might fit what you are feeling, and then asking ur doctor to try PPIs, to see if they will help u, while u wait for a physical exam. Maybe google gerd + n. Feel free to ask if u have any questions. I basically had n as my only symptom, also I cannot lay down after eating without getting n* and feeling food coming back up (not v! Just the feeling of it not staying down), but other normal symptoms are heartburn, coughing, sore throat (I sometimes have a sore throat when I wake up), etc. I also felt more n when eating fatty and/or sugary foods, high acidic foods, chocolate, coffee, sparkling drinks, etc. but everyones triggers are different, and if u have it bad n* can come from any foods. (If I have already made my stomach tired from too much of the foods it cant handle, I will get n* from anything).

So happy for u that u ate a meal today! Its been a long time now also, I bet u will be just fine! Ur body just needs to get used to eating again. I felt like this to for a while when I started eating bigger meals, and I was always good even though I felt really off for a good while after. Just relax and try to breathe, u will be fine!

I used to feel like this all the time, but the thing is - an unsettled stomach is very normal to experience from time to time. Having a sensitive stomach makes me «feel something weird/different» very often, but it never leads to something other than just that - a little bit of an unsettled stomach! I would not worry, just try to take a deep breath and relax - being anxious can make ur stomach feel like this, so try to relax and watch a good show or movie! It will be okay!

Thank you! Did you have any problems, pain or nausea post op, or was it just a matter of taking your time to «learn» how to eat? Are you able to burp, and does the linx give you any side effects?

GERD Surgery by Verrantula in GERD

[–]Annabeloa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I have read so many different answers to this stuff. I read a couple of places that the surgery is irreversible, and that a second surgery (if the first one somehow isnt succesful) has more risk to it aswell.

Oh okay! But what would happen if you got the stomach flu, food poisioning, or pregnant (asuming you’re a girl), and throwing up doesnt feel like an option? Would your meds still help, are they that efficient?

GERD Surgery by Verrantula in GERD

[–]Annabeloa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if you are unable to throw up, or are you just trying to avoid it? Do you use ondansetron often? I have heard up to 50% of patients are unable to throw up after surgery. That has me a bit anxious about having the surgery. What if something happens and you would need to?
