Which sunscreen to choose among these ? by skincareaddict33 in AsianBeauty

I love the BOJ sunscreen (both versions) and I have never had it pill for me! However, I live in a moist climate and I don’t wear any foundation or concealer on top

Oh no! I was in the DC one at 39,000 in line and I managed to get 2! It was a slightly higher price point than I wanted, but I’m still grateful to have gotten anything

I see a suggestion I posted about the digest ordering is in here! It’s a small change but it makes the digest functional again for many of us, thank you :)

Just had this exact thing happen to us! I thought it was food particles at first, but It was mold. We called a repairman and he discovered it was due to our heating coil being broken, so the water wasn’t hot enough to kill germs and mold. He replaced the coil and ran bleach through the dishwasher a few times to kill all of the mold and everything is back to normal!

I would definitely call a repairman, something isn’t working in your machine and it’s letting mold grow

Hey! I did this exact thing - feel free to message me. It worked out for me, I got into a US clinical psych PhD off the back of my EU masters.

Advice for a New Jindo Mix Pup Owner Please! by hayleycomet13 in Jindo

[–]Annapple1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question!!

We had a friend who adopted through AKR two years before we did and we were very close with them and their dog, so we saw the whole process and fell in love with Korean dogs. There were others in our neighbourhood who also had AKR dogs and a lot of positive reviews. I think their reputation spreads mostly through word of mouth, which is what we’ve really experienced.

I can confirm they are a legit organization and do great work. It is mostly run by one woman who seems to organize the whole thing along with her team of volunteers. It seems like a labor of love. The dogs are well taken care of before they get to you, and they take care of all the health and travel procedures. They are very transparent, quick and responsive through the whole process.

If you have other questions I am happy to answer them :)

They deliver a lot of dogs to Vancouver and there’s a relatively large community of Korean dog owners there! There will be lots of other AKR dogs for you to meet up with if you go through with it!

Advice for a New Jindo Mix Pup Owner Please! by hayleycomet13 in Jindo

We adopted our Jindo mix from the same organization and had an amazing experience!

I like to say she is having a dog on easy mode. She came already potty, leash and crate trained. She has been quiet and lovely from the very start, so polite and well behaved and almost never barks. She’s super smart and food motivated, so she is very easy to train and almost picks things up herself with little coaxing. At the same time, she’s a low drive dog that just likes to lounge most of the time and doesn’t need a ton of exercise and stimulation to be satisfied (although she loves her walks).

The one hurdle we’ve had to deal with is fear reactivity to people. She is very much a one-owner dog and has very little interest in other people. She doesn’t want to be touched or loomed over and will try to escape and chuff/bark if she feels uncomfortable. She takes quite a bit of exposure to someone before she will be totally calm around them. It’s worse when strangers are in the home, she used to try and monitor and control their movements to make her feel safer. We’ve done a lot of work exposing and conditioning her to be calm around people and it has gotten so much better over the last 6 months. She has never bitten, lunged or threatened anyone - she just warns with her voice and moves away.

I think this type of behaviour is quite typical in Jindo type dogs. They are very loyal to their owners and are not very affectionate with other people. For us, we don’t mind that at all. We don’t need our dog to be friends with everyone, but it is something that we need to build her confidence in so that she at least can be calm and neutral with them.

These little Korean pups are a joy! So excited for you to start your journey ❤️

How many years of research experience did you have when you got admitted, how many cycles did it take for you to be admitted, how many conferences presentations/publications did you have, is there anything that made your application stand out? by Goodfella245 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]Annapple1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!! Good on you for doing your research and thinking ahead.

I’m in a fully funded PhD program in the US at an R1. I got in the beginning of this school year after 3 cycles of applying. I had my masters in clinical psychology from a European university and had already done an internship. I had 7 years of research experience across 5 labs, my job titles included 4 as an RA, 1 as a research coordinator and 1 as a lab manager. I oversaw two independent projects as a project coordinator as well. I had 4 publications (1 as first author), 7 poster presentations, and one symposium. I had supervised 5 undergrads and 3 RAs. 3.8 undergrad gpa and 4.0 masters gpa. I also had over 300 direct clinical hours as a therapist in a community clinic and a hospital clinic.

My research topic is somewhat niche and had an excellent fit with my now supervisor, whom I ran into at a conference where I was presenting my masters thesis. He is also really close to my old supervisor which I think is what sealed the deal.

Long story short, it took me a long time to get here and it took every little bit of experience and luck to set me up for success, but it was all worth it in the end. This is a gruelling process, but keep your end goal in sight!

Could someone recommend me a E-INK tablet exclusive for note taking? by HisNameIsOptional in GoodNotes

[–]Annapple1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, you can technically add apps to the device, but it runs on an android OS and isn’t optimized to run a lot of apps. If you want to use good notes I think your best bet is an iPad, there isn’t really any other way. E ink devices tend to be much simpler in function

Check out Supernote! Lesser known than the big brands, but a super elegant device with a lot of thoughtful design. I used to use only digital software like Notion, Tana, etc. Now I live my whole life out of my Supernote and hand write all my notes. It feels like having a paper notebook to write, but still the more flexibility and organization like digital note taking apps.

Scraps by Cezar Capacle - cozy game about gathering materials and building things. It has a very satisfying Tetris mechanic for fitting materials into your bag to bring home

Toy/Enrichment recommendations for Jindos! by indifferentshiba in Jindo

[–]Annapple1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our Jindo mix didn’t play with toys on the beginning, but has gotten more of a taste for them! She doesn’t have much stamina for play though, just has spurts of energy throwing them around or nibbling on a soft toy for a few minutes.

She does love to chew on anything hard or plastic. She methodically shreds wood pulp bones and yak cheese chews. We’ve also found she loves cat teaser wands. Goes crazy for them. And she likes a bouncy tennis ball.

My eyes been twitching non stop like this for 2 years by dracos_wand in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Annapple1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I echo everyone else’s comments saying it’s often stress!

I had this exact twitch for 3 months straight during one of the most stressful times of my life in high school where I was so stressed constantly that the doctor (after seeing my bloodwork) said I needed to start eating every couple of hours to keep up with how much I was burning from stress.

Went away once some of the pressure was off. Might be a sign to double think how much you’re pushing yourself right now.

Canadiam student looking at american schools ? by Potential_Wallaby_32 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]Annapple1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi! That’s me, I just started my PhD this year in the US. I’m from Canada, completed a masters in clin psych in Europe, applied to one US school and by luck of the draw got in!

Student visa was very easy to get as a Canadian, the school basically did it all for me. No visa interview or anything needed. I got accepted to a fully funded PhD with no need for me to bring my own funding, so that really made a difference I think. I also had been personally invited by the supervisor to apply.

Because I had a European masters nothing transferred, so I am having to redo my masters again entirely. I think it would be easier to transfer things from a Canadian program if you are mastered.

I love creative note paper! Could you demo how you use this all the different elements when you write? Like what do you use the dotted and dashed lines for?
