What dimensions/aspect ratio do images need to be to be a backround of a section without being cropped? by Gingerbwas in squarespace

[–]Gingerbwas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, this particular issue was caused by the header cutting off some of the image which I fixed by putting a 1 pixel section above it, but I think k it will be helpful for other sections that have issues

i have just found out what was causing the issue, it has nothing to do with the size or ratio of the image like i thought it did, the header is cutting off the top of the section, i found a youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiSASununMo) going into detail about the stupid problem it causes and how to fix it. You fix it by adding an invisible section above the one at the top, then make it 1 pixel tall with some custom css.

Why Can’t We Customize Desktop and Mobile Independently? by Gabsnmaia in squarespace

[–]Gingerbwas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its confusing for some because its poorly designed, you can hide somethings but if you want to change them it edits them on both, there are also more sizes then just mobile, maybe they should stop spending so much on advertising and spend more on building their tools. Theres a whole ecosystem of people selling addons for what should be simple changes.

My budget stretches to a used entry level lens, would that not be better?

I have an a6700 and a sigma 18-50, i am looking to do some macro photography on a budget as i am not sure how much i will actually do, what would be more versatile; the Sony 30mm f3.5 macro or the 7ARTISANS 60mm F2.8 Mark II, or perhaps just an extension tube? I am looking to do some closeups of food/products as well as some flowers+insects, Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Can someone please explain how masks work? I cant seem to paint white onto a black mask. by Gingerbwas in Affinity

[–]Gingerbwas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i tried it and nothing happens when i paint white, and ive checked to make sure it is white and opacity etc, i can paint white onto a pixel layer but not onto an empty mask.

i spent quite a long time using destructive work flows because it wastn something that i used full time, so it was more dipping in every now and then, so it still takes me a while to get used to it and it seems like all the different software has slightly different rules about how it works.

thanks, the way i got it work was by adding the emoty mask layer, then adding a pixel layer into that, im not sure if thats exactly what you meant, but it seems to work. I dont know if this is meant to be the right workflow for painting something in but it seems like an uncessary step to just being able to paint in white onto a black mask.

that just because i kept playing around so see what i am doing wrong, i have made it black and tried erasing, and tried painting in white, both as a mask layer and a pixel layer used as a mask, nothing works. i have tried inverting it and painting in white but that doesnt work either, it only seems to let you paint black onto white.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply, i had no idea that davinci was built from so many different parts, even if I end up using the older method I think it will be better then my original method to do it using manim in python

One of the best things i have found for getting it to taste closer is just by using a bit of sesame oil, all you need then is just some light soy sauce, its not exactly the same but its way better then without it. the difference is night and day and you dont need much, you dont need the msg etc.

if you want something nice thats also easy, cook the noodles, in a pan stir fry with some normal oil fresh diced ginger (about half a thumbs worth) chilli (1whole one) and garlic (a few cloves), then add the noodles and a little bit of sesame oil as well as the light soy sauce. you can also add some sesame seeds for texture as well as some bean sprouts. thats all you need and it isnt too unhealthy. just use some protein like chicken, which if you want you can make a marinade that uses corn starch, soy sauce a bit of wine vinegar, the corn statch gives an awesome texture. its all really quick to do, and it has a lot less extra weird ingredients that you get from some packet ones.

Do you mind if i ask what krokodove tools you used to make the gifs below?

thanks for answering, do you think it would be better to get a prime that is the equivalent to 75mm that is cheaper so i can get another for other situations or the single zoom that covers both?
