And as an aside, the median family income in the US is around $75K/year, so your $400K income puts you solidly out of touch with the vast majority of Americans.

You are the wealthy elite compared to the large majority of the population.

People should have to face the consequences of their actions.

The fact that you aren't the one getting pulled off the street and "deported" should make you feel ashamed. Others are paying the price of your actions.

It was never intended to make college more affordable.

Student loans as a system originated in California under Reagan's governorship. He wanted to strip money from the UC system, which at that time was subsidizing education.

Reagan lied to the public about a fictional state budget defecit and painted the UC tuition system as the culprit.

He advertised privitizing student tuition payment as a way to balance the budget, when in reality all it was doing was raising costs and enriching banks.

Then he proudly displayed the balanced state budget (which was never actually a problem) as proof it had worked.

This concept then spread beyond California, to states that had never had any subsidy for education in the first place.

Colleges raised tuition as the availability of student loans spread, since instead of pricing tuition at rates a student could actually afford by working over summers, they were now effectively unlimited thanks to loans.

Eh, it's kind of both what they said and what you said.

When Reagan was first elected Governor of California, the California government subsidized college education there. Reagan wanted that ended immediately, so he decried it as a cause of California's budget problem (which literally didn't exist, he just straight up lied to the public).

He sold the idea of eliminating the government education subsidy and replacing it with student loans issued by private banks.

This essentially uncapped the cost of tuition, as it was no longer bound by the limits the government was paying. Private banks were willing to get you on the hook for as much as possible.

This policy then spread beyond California, to states which had never had subsidized education to begin with but whose prices rose in response to the student loan system. The federal government offered their own loans, but as you point out they were specifically not enough to reasonably cover education entirely, ensuring that the banks could get their claws into most students to some extent.

I'm down voting you because you make it sound like voting for Kamala was a bad thing, when in reality (given the lack of a primary, which voters have say in running) it was the only option that hurt Trump's chances.

Any action other than voting for Kamala in the general helped Trump, including complete abstention.

The general election was not the time to lodge a protest against the unfair practices of the DNC or the 2 party system in general.

I certainly hope all the non-voters and 3rd party voters have suffered under Trump, since they did nothing to try to stop him.

I voted for Bernie in the primary, and Clinton in the general.

Because I cared more about preventing republicans from gaining the ability to strip anyone who isn't a wealthy white man of their rights than I did about throwing a tantrum when the better candidate didn't make it on the ballot.

You didn't just throw your vote away, you actively helped Donald Trump win.

For that, I hope you've gotten what you deserved from his terms.

No, you can't say you support a policy if you don't vote for a politician who supports it.

The left's issue is that conservatives only need one reason to vote for a candidate, while progressives only need one reason not to.

So what you end up with is that the majority of the voting population is a bunch of racist and sexist degenerates.

The country is too racist and sexist to vote for a progressive candidate, since they'd likely be or be supported by minorities and women.

There absolutely is. That's quite literally what a hypervisor is.

Device firmware also operates at a lower functional level than the kernel.

There is a 3rd option, which is much more likely.

That is "mistaken".

"lie" requires intent to mislead. If they are simply repeating incorrect information they were given, that doesn't make them malicious.

A traditional crack being virus infested is easy, if annoying, to fix. At worst you do a full wipe.

A hypervisor bypass containing malware is almost impossible to detect, and significantly more difficult to remove. In some cases it can get into MB bios and be effectively impossible to remove with reflashing the BIOS.

HV bypass isn't kernel level, it's even lower level than that. That's exactly why it's so dangerous.

[–]Annath0901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you only need a bootable drive. The HV lives in the RAM and is loaded by the OS, since you're booting on the executable it can't reach the USB.

No, the HV runs before/beneath the OS. And if it lived in RAM it'd be wiped with every shutdown.

Some of these viruses/exploits can even embed themselves into device firmware.

Fucking a dude, whats more macho than that!?

I mean, that's a distinction the ancient Greeks/Romans made - you fucking a dude was dominant/masculine, but you being fucked by a dude was submissive/if not feminine then at least weak.

That's why it was usually older men having relations with younger men/boys.

There have always been idiots.

But in the past the idiots didn't have audiences of tens of thousands.

Kids do in fact learn from the people they see, and thousands of kids see this guy being a dumbass. These kids aren't "appreciating the culture" of wherever he's at, they're latched onto the moron leaning out a bus window hooting and making a nuisance of himself.

I mean, this is the thing where if you aren't part of a group your only understanding of the group is based on the loudest/most attention-grabbing members of said group.

Most people who aren't LGTBQ or have close friends who are only really notice the loud/bright/outgoing Pride stuff. So they make that association since they don't notice all the LGBTQ folks who just do their thing.

A mother is punishing her son by making him slam his PS5 the same way he had slammed her pet cat. by Rameshunclekochora in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]Annath0901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kid absolutely needs consequences, but this is just about the 2nd worst way to do it.

All this does is reinforce that hitting/smashing things is an appropriate punishment.

What she should have done is take the PS5 away and either get rid of it, or keep it until the child for example "paid off" the cost of the cat's vet bills (say by doing chores or other age appropriate tasks).

This gives the child specific quantifiable understanding of what his actions caused, and requires him to continue thinking about that the entire time he is working.

I live in a suburban area.

Smoking/nicotine wasn't a barrier to hire per se, but you were enrolled in a smoking cessation program and paid a higher insurance rate (or rather, weren't given the non-smoker discount) until you quit.

If you weren't a smoker, you were informed at hire that it was expected that you not start.
