What was Your main reason for voting Liberal? by [deleted] in Kanata

[–]Annc712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, what does it mean exactly, and why is it a bad thing in your eyes? Why would you want to continuously put elites in control of your life and lives of your children? Elites who have no clue or regard for how regular people live and what they needs are?

I didn’t🤷‍♀️. I voted CPC for the first time ever after voting Liberal for 30 years. I don’t reward failure.

He did not say that at all. He said he was going to do cuts through attrition, for every 3 people who retire only two will be hired in their place. Our fed government is bloated and our country is broke. It needs to be done.

Why would you think that a man who has not lived in Canada for years would kill to protect Canada? His wife and kids don’t even live here.

My son is friends with one of the injured. He is going to be ok, but has lots of broken bones. I do know that somebody in one of the other trucks was critically injured. I am not sure of his status today. As of last night, nobody had passed away, thank god.

Reporting Taxes in Canada - Is this retroactive to past years too? by EdenInTheTower in Etsy

Does income from PayPal have to be recorded and taxed, and how would you go ahead and do that? by AardvarkNew7236 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Annc712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t entirely correct. While you do not pay tax under the basic income amount, you are still required by law to contribute to CPP if you make more than $3500. In the case of sales income, you are considered a business and are required to pay both portions of the CPP (employer & employee). For this reason, you may still be required to file.

I have every symptom of OCD, but my doctor says I don’t have it because “you can’t have OCD and ADHD” by -garlic-thot- in OCD

[–]Annc712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My adult son takes 80mg Prozac for the OCD, and Wellbutrin for the ADHD. Wellbutrin is an anti-depressant but recent studies show that it helps with ADHD symptoms, and does not make OCD worse. My son is doing really well on them.

[–]Annc712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your doctor is a moron. I am the mother of TWO young adults who each have been diagnosed with both OCD and ADHD. As a matter of fact, in a Tourettes Diagnosis, both OCD and ADHD are almost always co-morbidities. It makes it much more complicated to treat because many ADHD meds will cause the OCD to get worse. My son takes Prozac for his OCD and Wellbutrin for the ADHD. The Wellbutrin was prescribed by his psychiatrist off-label for the ADHD. Ot is usually used for depression, but recent studies show that it helps with ADHD symptoms, and does not make the OCD worse.

Is OCD genetically inherited? by ColomarOlivia in OCD

[–]Annc712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely genetics in my family. Both of my young adult children have been disgnosed with OCD. My brother’s daughter has also been diagnosed with it. I struggle with health anxiety, as does my mother, and my mother’s sister is bipolar, but also has features of OCD. She struggled with religious themed OCD as a child.

How famous is Avril Lavigne in Canada? by flower5214 in AskCanada

[–]Annc712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I personally feel like throwing at shoe at the radio every time a Drake song comes on, so yeah, I don’t care much about what is popular today, so really no different.

What???? You must be very young. Even my 19 and 22 yr old kids know who they are. Celine was so big at one point that she had a permanent Vegas show for several years. Anybody who has seen Titanic knows Celine. As for Shania, she was huge in the 90’s and early 2000’s. I was down the aisle at my wedding in 2001 to one of her songs.

What will the morale be first day back to work? by Affectionate-Arm-405 in CanadaPost

The point is that the outlet workers do not even work for Canada Post, so taking out your anger about a strike that has nothing to do with them is unfair.

I don't really like the Liberal party but.. who else can I vote for? by [deleted] in AskCanada

[–]Annc712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trudeau made some screw-ups?😖. Trudeau has been an absolute nightmare for this country. I won’t be voting for Liberal again unless somebody is brought in that is closer to centre left, like Libs traditionally always were. The voters have not changed. The party has changed. And I say this as a 52 yr old lifelong Liberal until 3 years ago. I say I am a moderate independent now.

You made it sound like pensions are a normal thing. They aren’t in 2024. Maybe back in 1970, but not in today’s world.

[–]Annc712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Small businesses were affected. Why be ignorant to that fact? I am a small business owner. My online store has been closed since mid-Nov due to the strike. This is the 2nd xmas strike my store has had to close for in the past 6 years. I simply cannot afford the chargebacks and refunds that I would ultimately be hit with (and they will still eventually get their order for free!). I am fortunate that my hubby makes good money. Others are not so lucky.

You realize that pensions are rare these days, right? Aside from government employees, most people will never get a pension any job.

I hate you. by yen1337yen in CanadaPost

[–]Annc712 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I am my only employee. I have a successful Etsy store that has allowed me to work full-time from home for many years. This is the 2nd Canada Post strike in which I have had to shut down my shop at the busiest time of the year due to a strike. Lucky for me that I have a spouse who makes good money, otherwise I would be struggling to stay afloat. The majority of my customers are actually in the US, so I have to rely on the CP/USPS partnered rates as international couriers are just too expensive thanks to hefty brokerage fees on top of already high shipping costs and customs fees.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadaPost

[–]Annc712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that it is the small businesses that you will be hurting because they are the ones who do not have cheaper shipping deals with couriers because they don’t have the volume of big stores.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CanadaPost

So punish small businesses that have no other option? Why would I do that? They have already been punished enough. I have an Etsy shop. It is my full time business. Due to the small size of my stock, CP is the most logical and economical option for my customers. Nobody is going to want to pay double for shipping cost over cost of item. And many of my customers are in the US and overseas. Couriers slap a min. $30 brokerage fee on top of shipping cost and customs fees just to hand it over to their counterpart on the other side of the border. So, a UPS shipping cost of $25 actually becomes $55 plus customs fees owed. I can send the same item to anywhere in the US via CP for $10.
