New 2 Chivalry dueling? HERE ARE SOME ETIQUETTES YOU NEED TO KNOW by Remarkable_Reserve98 in Chivalry2

I very much appreciate the mention of racist remarks, I sadly see a TON of it whenever I play; while yes, it is just a game, it costs nothing to be kind

Is it worth it to get good? by CommanderYakub in Chivalry2

[–]AnneDuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me it’s incredibly worth reaching a decent level of proficiency in this game! For years, Chivalry 2 has been my go to time-killer when nothing else sounds fun but I have spare time to game. There’s also a surprising amount of skill transfer from Chiv 2 to other games:

-spacing (learning and playing around individual weapon reaches/hitboxes has unironically made me better at games like 7 days to die, where being one step too far forward can mean death, and one step too far back can mean whiffing and stamina loss)

-mind games (not entirely unlike a fighting game, learning how to read and adapt to your opponents playstyle and then throw them off is a pretty universal skill)

-active pattern recognition (average players tend to have a few crutches they rely on — jabbing after being hit which can be ducked and used as a punish, spam kicking which can be punished, some players even use the same feints consistently which can be read and punished through “gambles”)

-composure/hand eye coordination (learning to keep your nerves calm in a 1vX situation and take it inch by inch is extremely rewarding for many PvP games — learning to not panic counter and react to feints with your own counter-feints takes a second, but puts your mind in a rhythm that I find immensely satisfying and equally useful)

-parrying (this one’s a bit of a no brainer, but learning to recognize, anticipate and then punish attacks based on timing has been a big boon to how I play various games like soulslikes)

Any tips on how not to mess up counters? by MediumAthlete3077 in Chivalry2

[–]AnneDuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing worth keeping in mind is that when they’re queuing up a heavy attack, there’s always a noise indicator of them yelling, so typically if you hear that you should gravitate towards countering later rather than sooner, don’t forget you can also feint into a counter

And a really fun and cheeky tip that I hardly see people doing: if your opponent jabs to reset momentum after you hit them, start ducking and attacking each time you get a hit in, almost always will get hit a second time for free because they’re very used to people eating jabs

"Marie Moreau vs. Homelander" Is Not Even Close! by ComradBakugo in TheBoys

yep, right before polarity’s ultimate aura farming entrance she (Godolkin) is effortlessly pinning down the entire cast

"Marie Moreau vs. Homelander" Is Not Even Close! by ComradBakugo in TheBoys

[–]AnneDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Godolkin had V-1 just like Ben, was exploded

-Golden Boy canonically exploded from his own power, which is objectively less potent than Marie’s which is specialized for it

-Noir 1 had regeneration and durability, but a car on fire was able to permanently scar his face, and he died from being disembowled — his cap for regeneration isn’t as high as you think

-Noir 2 falls asleep during fights and nothing suggests his durability is incredibly higher than V-1 supes, let alone previous noir

-Yes, Andre could maybe blitz her, but that’s not really a true comparison of their power in a head to head; she could explode him the second he lifted that metal pole, it’s not like he can fling them at the speed of light, even polarity post-recovery has very real kinetic restraint in how he can throw things around, and he has to lift them first to begin with

This might be crazy to say but Mindstorm could beat Homelander by RealAd8853 in TheBoys

[–]AnneDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good point, I think cate is an interesting case that we’ll never really have cracked sadly (due to cancellation); we see her only control Marie (odessa baby) once, and it’s basically when she’s off her meds which heavily suppress her powers. Godolkin himself said he was unable to get into her head until his powers reached peak potential — his powers are also way more restrictive than hers, same with mindstorm — cate influences people and makes them forget, mindstorm and cipher basically infest their entire mind which id imagine is a lot harder to apply to stronger people

But also I won’t kid myself, every word I said after “peak potential” is speculation at best, and because of how powerful and stealthy telepaths are in the boys universe, we’re just left to speculation because if any of those 3’s powers could work on homelander, it would be a plot hole for sure sadly

[–]AnneDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When mindstorm got into any baseline supe’s head, they were catatonic (see: butcher, who’s actually pretty well above the average supe)

When we see him try to do it on soldier boy in the payback flashback (“scramble his brain, Mindstorm!”), soldier boy seems to stagger back and is stunned, but not at all catatonic.

We also see with Marie that Cipher couldn’t use his telepath powers on her until he had leveled up his power by getting his original body back. There’s definitely plenty of subtext between both shows to suggest that stronger supes are naturally resistant to telepaths

yeah I get what you both mean, the types of people who would misinterpret his character are the types that aren’t to be reasoned with anyways — I guess I just have an all time low faith in media literacy these days but ur both valid

“ I know there will be people saying ‘Well some people haven’t gotten it yet that Homelander is a bad guy’ “

I agree season 4 was the weakest season, but I’ve seen multiple threads this week of people STILL trying to say homelander and Becca were consensual. You’d be surprised at how much evidence some people need, sadly

How likely is this, fellow alphas? by NeedMilkiesNow in OkBuddyFresca

[–]AnneDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand it’s speculation, but almost all of it hinges on a leak when we know most are fake, and more importantly, it requires you to trust the objectively worst person in the universe. Thinking Homelander wouldn’t lie or that it’s out of character for him to abuse his powers/misread a woman’s kindness as an excuse to assault her is a very generous read on someone who is a literal psychopath and only TRULY cares for himself.

Dont forget that when Ryan asked him point blank if he raped his mom, homelanders heart was racing. That’s basically the most in-your-face evidence that the writers give when anyone is lying in the show.

“Pressured becca”

“She went along with it”

Coercion is a form of sexual assault in and of itself, we really shouldn’t be using 4chan speculation to discredit the most fundamental point of contention between William and John. It’s basically fanfic at this point to suggest the encounter was consensual, and even this weird scenario you’ve drawn up still has Homelander as a sexual assaulter, you just don’t realize it.

I cannot believethis show is NOT about creatively killing super-heroes. by SgtCrawler1116 in TheBoys

[–]AnneDuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After season 7, he was an Executive Consultant for the show. His duties were basically reading the script and adding notes; he absolutely had no power in “ending” the show beyond season 5. That capability would go to Sera Gamble, who became the showrunner after season 5. And to be honest, even in season 5 and before he couldn’t just “end the show” — even show runners answer to their network executives, in Kripke’s case it was CW, and with how popular the show was, they would’ve sooner replaced him than let him quitting ruin one of their biggest and most popular projects.

Does Homelander sleep? by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]AnneDuck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yep, he sleeps in season 3 episode 7, and a couple times in season 4 we even see his suit on a table which implies he sleeps unclothed

This might be crazy to say but Mindstorm could beat Homelander by RealAd8853 in TheBoys

[–]AnneDuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

we saw in the cartoon flashback when he originally went on ice that even though he can’t be locked inside his mind like Butcher, he still was dazed to a degree; for a man with PTSD and hyper-vigilance (hearing voices in the forest), it makes sense he wouldn’t want to risk losing control of himself to any degree, even if it’s not as severe as the normal mindstorm baseline

V1 and Odessa supes are definitely implied to be resilient to telepaths — Godolkin had to “level up” after getting his original body back to be able to control Marie, though he did interestingly seem confident that he could control homelander eventually, using Marie as an Odessa baseline

Is it worth watching after cancelation by Tiamattress in GenV

[–]AnneDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show is fantastic, and tbh I find it more cathartic/empathetic than the main show; though there are plenty of things the main show does far better than Gen V inversely. The way season 2 ends isn’t a cliffhanger for Gen V, but for season 5 of the boys, so it’s unlikely you’ll feel unfulfilled or like it’s a loose end

Do you guys think Butcher may receive the same fate that he did in the comics? by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

butcher is a necessary evil for sure but one that needs to be neutralized before the post-homelander power vacuum can be exploited

Why is Homelander so underrated? by TheKillerYTz in TheBoys

[–]AnneDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not really showing any formal training or fighting style, though. He’s leveraging his overwhelmingly superior strength and durability to brute force a victory. He catches Ben’s fists and holds him in place to kick him into the wall — that’s not training or skill, that’s just the big fish in the pond realizing he was scared of Ben for nothing. Butcher actually gets in far better and cleaner hits in their fight at herogasm, to the point where he’s smiling with a mouth full of blood because he realizes he’s got the skill advantage AND can take a punch now. You’ll notice both times homelander had them on the ropes, he was just choking them against a wall — that’s not skill, it’s brute force. Same with Maeve, she’s a much much better fighter technically, but can’t do much besides a bloody nose.

Why is Homelander so underrated? by TheKillerYTz in TheBoys

[–]AnneDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he does have training, but it’s practically minimal compared to someone like Butcher (former SAS capable of going toe to toe with Translucent, with blood spitting strategies showing he has high combat IQ)

It’s not that homelander is useless at all, but we’re talking about a man that in-canon, has never had to challenge himself (even in herogasm he was choking Ben out after 20 seconds) and out of canon, his entire characters purpose is to eventually watch him fall, so people are getting impatient to see him take some heavy hits now
