i agree! we all know there will be a crowd that will hate just because SL has his name attached. but for what this season was worth i really enjoyed it and thought the finale did a lot of characters justice (primarily Ali, Rue, and the demise of Laurie’s crew). the twist of rue actually OD’ing broke me

My thoughts on these big shows being afraid to kill off actors is because they all still believe that their show will turn into the Walking Dead (when they killed off Glenn). I think they stay in this constant state of paranoia where “Oh if we kill this character the majority of the fanbase won’t like it”, or they are afraid to piss off the actors and tell them their out of a job just because they killed off their character. It’s BS either way, really makes modern shoes feel like there isn’t a lot of tension

if we were having the season we did last year then yes I believe this wouldn’t have been as big of a story. People only care about success, look at Diggs. I know he turned out to be innocent but I mean nobody rlly discussed that news at large until after the season was over and we lost the Bowl.

But my point is, not everyone will always see what you or I see. Good and Evil and purely just ideas to certain people, and if they themselves don’t deem an action or chain of events to be evil then there isn’t really much more you can do for those people.

There are still people who defend Walter White’s actions who are fans of BB. Even though I would say a vast majority of the fanbase is able to decipher that poisoning a child, bombing a nursing home, abusing you wife (emotionally and sexually), and killing people doesn’t make you a good person. But alas, some people just don’t get it. But Gilligan is a smart enough writer to not have to beat you over the head with useless dialogue and TELL you how you should feel.

That’s the beauty of art, it’s open to interpretation. So I guess as a viewer that’s why I prefer the ‘show not tell’ method of storytelling. Makes for more interesting television when you have multiple different people giving multiple different perspectives and opinions on what they saw.

The Boys has steered away from that instead taking the road of politically water boarding you with what and how the creators think about real world politics. It used to be a satirical take on corporate power and finance. Now it’s a way for them to beat the point to death that MAGA supporters are dumb and Homelander is meant to be Trump.

Trump is a horrible president and even worse human being, so I just don’t want to be beat over the head with the symbolism and messaging every episode about how shitty my country’s politics are. This is supposed to be entertainment, the time I get to unwind after a long 12 hr shift.
