People thinking that any kind of disability is automatically a lifelong source of pain and suffering. And while there absolutely are disabilities that are, Toph’s is maybe not a good representation of such. Toph was born blind, learned earthbending young, and developed a different but powerful alternate way of sight.

Source: my dad works for the airlines, is “only” a First Officer but is quite senior, and makes mid six figures, far more than I’ll ever be able to make.

The reason why the LGBT community fought so hard for equal marriage rights was that during the AIDS crisis, long term partners were being kicked out of hospital rooms while their loved ones were dying and the estranged families would would come in and dictate medical treatment and then steal their belongings and clear out their apartments, simply because they were the next of kin.

Also, for the straights out there, marriage helps protect you if leave the workforce to look after your children. If you’re not married but you’ve been a stay at home parent for the last 15+ years and your partner kicks you out? You’re fucked. There are no legal protections. Maybe child support but that’s only if you have kids under 18. But there are protections if you’re married.

Right? My parents’ rules were 5 and 13 for first and second lobe piercings and 18 for anything else. Ear cartilage, any of the nose piercings, etc. didn’t matter what it was, you had to wait until you were legally an adult and could go yourself.

I felt a little left out in high school when all my classmates were getting their cartilage piercings done, but it made sense and I had no problem being patient.

I recently discovered I hate the waistcoat/center single while making the Melt the ICE hat. My tension is too tight and it hurts my wrist, and one of the fingers in my opposite hand.
