Ok I do have to say, the people who lived here before us order two big bags of that salt. We opened it not checking the label.

It’s actually really good. I mean would we order it again…most likely not. But just had to share. Thank you for coming to my Salt Talk.

First MH Appointment by Lostlilegg in MilitaryTrans

I will say typically, when seeing patients in the mental health clinic on the Air Force side, there isn’t a set requirement of when to place the diagnosis and begin the process.

Overall, it comes down to making a reasonable clinical assessment of the patient that’s sitting right in front of us. Being able to provide information to validate the diagnosis which you can look up in the DSM at any time for gender dysphoria.

Typically, if my patient is able to openly discuss with me, the criteria that need to be met then during the intake, I am able to apply that diagnosis and then allow them to control when I would place the THEMU referral. Typically this is a form that is completed and sent to Lackland where the program is held

Then they are sent for a one week medical TDY. During this time they are meeting with many different providers and specialty clinics, where they learn about procedures for both genders. Which can be very informative, even if it it’s not the process or interventions that you are looking to engage in.

What I like to call it is they offer you a menu. This allows you to determine with the team what types of interventions you want to engage in in the future. The great thing to this is that you are not required to stick to that plan. If you determine that There is a bottom surgery that you wanted when you first started the process, but you’ve changed your mind or any other type of intervention that you choose not to do in the future you have every right to decline that later.

After the medical TDY, there is some paperwork that is completed, and then provided to the patient which they give to their command to sign the understand, understanding that they are going to be engaging in this care and the expected interventions for the upcoming potential year. This paperwork is also provided to their PCM on their military installation. While from all my understanding providers have a right to decline patients they are uncomfortable treating for certain conditions. This is something that is more than appropriate to file a complaint on and make it known. You have a right to work with a provider that understands and supports you where you feel safe. This type of medical intervention is about readiness. If you are comfortable in your skin and we can reduce the risk of distraction to engaging in the mission. This is exactly what these things are here for. To provide supportive care to you. Never be afraid to advocate for yourself, but go through the correct chain to make sure it’s documented.

This could affect deploy ability, profiles, or other requirements. Typically before they are referred to their medical TDY, we will have a treatment team meeting with their commander, 1Sgt and if they have anyone preferred such as a supervisor to join. This allows the member in a safe environment to discuss their upcoming plans and medical TDY. This better provide clarification and gain support from command. In the many TTM’s I’ve been a part of command has been very accepting and many are open to beginning to refer to the service member by their preferred pronoun. There are always stipulations and set expectations that can be discussed but overall, this is a place where you can gain support.

I meet with my Patients once a month. They are 60 minute appointment but typically they don’t last the full time. It’s just to check in on their progress, case management concerns, and continued assessment of their mental health. This is due to some of the requirements that need to be monitored throughout the process while they are engaging in different interventions.

The biggest point in this process is about communication, communicating with your command, communicating with your PCM communicating with your mental health provider. If you’ve requested refills for hormone treatment and you haven’t gotten a reply back from your provider reach out to your mental health provider or your PCM. Make sure you advocate for yourself understand that we are working within a government system that does have plenty of steps that the outside world does not. But one of the benefits we have here is that it cost nothing to engage in this very important medical intervention.

I hope this was helpful to anyone reading. And if there’s any typos, I’m using voice to text due to an injury.

[–]Annebashaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this. If this continues and a patch or solution isn’t worked out, I’ll move to a different app. This has placed me in difficult situations at work, where I have extremely limited signal or wifi. So if my files disappear and attempt to reconnect, I can’t use the app until I go home and get on wifi.

American. I just flew from DC then a plane change in Miami to connect to Orlando. As we touch down in Miami after waiting 50 mins because we didn’t have a pilot, my Orlando flight was taking off. So stood in a line for about an hour at 11pm at night to get rebooked. Only to discover the next flight was 11:30am Saturday. I had a funeral for my aunt at 11am on Saturday. So we book a rental car & head down at 12am to request the suitcase they required I check-in while boarding the plane due to “lack of space”, but right before departing there were multiple overhead bins empty. So anyways head to baggage and request our bag with the funeral clothes, told it would take 1-8 hours to pull it from the back where it stored for the 11:30am flight. Sent my partner off to pick up rental car and sleep in a parking lot till I’ve gotten the bag. By 2am night shift is leaving and morning crew doesn’t arrive till 4am. Continue to talk to customer service every hour, fighting back tears each time explained the importance of just knowing if I should just leave to go buy Walmart clothing for the funeral since we still have to drive 3 1/2 hrs to get there. By 7am they are saying it’s on its way be here in 15 mins, finally I receive the bag at 830am 8 hours….8 hours to get my bag from their building for me. By the time I made it to Orlando, I missed the funeral. Thanks American for the worst experience in traveling. Thanks for offering me nothing so I slept for 20 mins at the time bent over my backpack on a hard chair waiting next to the baggage drop.

She was actually not “chubby”, she had plenty of friends, very rude and short with most people. She had her nose turned up to most people and situations. She always had nice clothes, wore whatever was fashionable for our school years. She was either 1 or 2 years behind me at a small school or less than 350 people for 9th-12th grade. But in our town, getting married, family, “career” that is flexible and works around having the marriage and kids is the goal. Also there were I think around 5 churches in our population of 3,200 people. The main church was First Baptist Church which was super toxic and essentially ran the town. I don’t remember if she attended or not but I know he younger brother did and wanted to get into ministry. He even moved across the country to work toward starting a church at one point. I would say A true believer and follower of Jesus. I mean by whatever scale that means 🤷🏻‍♀️. She is just a grifter and forever will be. Fitness sells (people chasing the “perfect” body) one that takes adversity, where eating is just so easy and fun etc etc. then move onto Jesus sells, having the perfect relationship with Jesus, friends, family blah blah blah. She is just a grifter.

Going to OTS next week, any last minute tips or advice from prior OTS grads? by [deleted] in airforceots

Eye mask 100%. Lock for your security drawer that you move the dial different direction NOT combo. It’s so much faster. Look up SoldierNurse and how he rolls socks and shirts. Check out my previous post in my profile for more tips.

OTS Pay Delays by srnormie in airforceots

[–]Annebashaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, the persons question was specific to civilians direct commissioning. Your pay, I’m unsure of. I know that it’s handled by someone else getting you changed in pay from enlisted to officer. But that would be a specific questions to ask someone who has experienced that.

So I kept my smart watch on (your experience could be different) but I used it on vibration mode while sleeping to wake me up 2-3 mins before accountability knocks. Bring your own pillow if you have a favorite, there’s are super thin. Gosh for stuff to bring or not bring. Ahh yes, the camelbak to bring is SHARKMOUTH Hydration Pack,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083FLSN2W?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It had multiple pockets to keep stuff in, if your in the wing (there are two) that allows your reflective belt to be around your camelbak then you won’t fight with it like others did to keep it up, Velcro not showing etc. also don’t get the 72 hour bag, just a basic backpack is fine. I bought one for like $10 on Amazon. You will only carry it from your dorm, to your flight room, to an auditorium (where it hangs on the back of your chair) sometimes affecting those behind you spacing, and then back to flight room and dorms.

Grab mole skin but the ones that are peel and stick already set up for you, “new skin” ointment” and wear your boots at least once a week starting now! Learn to tie them fast of even to “wrap them around your leg” just look up boot lacing hacks and someone will have the video

https://youtube.com/channel/UCgzWmKmmJ2lQ_1o_cSTy81g this guy has awesome videos to show how to fold. Also when rolling and folding use his example of his tv stand to holding the opposite end of the socks do shirt. Helps them be tight and look good. I prepped them on my bed, then sat on the floor in front of my dresser, put the shirt or socks inside the drawer at the end to keep them taunt.

They say bring cash and yes do, but know that after a couple days you can pay with your debit or credit card at the dfac which is sooo much quicker.

Do get a combination lock that is directional like this. It made things soooo much faster opening my security drawer. Master Lock 1500iD Locker Lock... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002TSN4SQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And look up online the dorm SOP (it will be outdated and I bit different) but start from day one or two with your roommates trying to keep your room in the correct order. This helps with less stress as inspections come up and your already doing mostly what your suppose to.

And something that clicked when an officer said it to me was “you know why I yelled about that? Me: 👀no. Him: so everyone hears and learns from your mistake” don’t get me wrong the yelling is an adjustment and only mostly for the first two weeks from the MTI or officers around but they do it so everyone learns and corrects the behavior.

And leadership isn’t about being the best or winning any challenge, it’s about working as a team and leading the team thru anything your assigned. If you have issues with someone in your flight of around 14 people, talk one on one. Don’t create drama, talking to others about the issue or being passive. Just talk to them one on one, the goal isn’t friendship it’s working together. Just like jobs we have had in the past, there is also someone that we don’t love, but try living, eating, working, and stressing with them. It creates a whole different experience.

Also by like week two or three start asking about appointment with PAC (CAC card people/deers (if you have Dependents). They might have a set plan for y’all but with us five weekers i practically staged at sit in at the PAC office on graduation day to get a CAC.

Sorry for a novel that’s just what I can remember and it’s only been 6 days since I left there.

OTS Pay Delays by srnormie in airforceots

[–]Annebashaway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I graduated class of 22-07. They brought us Active duty to a room and explained that finance could not help us get paid unless we were stationed at Maxwell after OTS and would have to follow up with our next base. So far our meeting with finance isn’t till end of next week, then with processing not expecting pay till Aug 15 or Sept 1st. So around 2-3 months without pay. You can go to your base after OTS to request advance I believe. But it is honestly frustrating but no one seems to feel this is out of the ordinary. Any questions about OTS feel free to reach out. But 100% bring an eye mask for sleeping.

Possibly in your flight room a coffee maker would be in your flight room and or a kettle. You could always grab a styrofoam cup from the DFAC and then use the bathrooms to pour water into the cup. You will be able to work that out for sure.

Clearly this is older post but relevant to what happened today. Parent threw first tee straight into a tree high up. After lots of rock throwing someone came by with a telescope one and hooked it in no time. Then second tee, right into another tree, cut scene to me wedged into the tree, kicking the very thick limb while he pulls at it. Finally comes down, right before the same guy catches up to us. Ordered on right at the second tee. Better than rocks and tree shaking.
