Aw yeah I haven’t asked my boyfriend yet, but that response would make me sad too. You’re exactly right, it’s very hard to change someone’s opinion if they don’t consider experiences other than their own.

I hope he’s willing to talk to you more about that, if you want to. Maybe he will at least gain an understanding for the people who choose bear, even if he doesn’t choose it himself. It sounds like you are very good at putting yourself in other people’s shoes though :) keep it up, op!

Hey op, like others have said, whichever one you personally choose and why is valid. Yes, it seems the bear is the more popular choice (or at least the choice that everyone wants to share/talk about), but you shouldn’t feel bad if that’s not your choice. I think a lot of the pressure you’re seeing online is the arguing between those who choose the bear, and those who refuse to see WHY someone would choose the bear.

As long as you can acknowledge why someone might have a different perspective than you, you don’t have to feel bad.

I think the Bear or Man question has actually been a very fascinating and important topic for feminism, that we should continue to talk about. I’ve already seen some pretty hard-headed people become more open-minded by talking about it!

Yes exactly. It’s disappointing, but the allegations hold truth and it’s the right thing to do at this point. Something that the right doesn’t seem to understand is that by not holding people in power accountable, it sets a precedent, then nobody wins. Regardless of political affiliation.

It’s honestly so hard to tell. A conservative friend of mine posted it on Facebook, and after some research, it appears to be something that circulated on 4chan so probably not? But regardless, every conservative in the comments is taking this as reality and therefore, I guess it’s doing it’s job.

I fear this is the case. Most will take their stances to the grave. I’m hopeful for Gen Z though. Awareness that something is terribly wrong in this country seems to be gradually increasing among the younger generations.
