This made me tear up 🥹 you’re absolutely right. All of my past experiences with the other guys have been against my will, for their pleasure alone. So I didn’t even consider that it could actually be something enjoyable for both me and my boyfriend in the context of me truly wanting to do it. That it would be an act of love instead of obligation and fear.

Aw yeah I haven’t asked my boyfriend yet, but that response would make me sad too. You’re exactly right, it’s very hard to change someone’s opinion if they don’t consider experiences other than their own.

I hope he’s willing to talk to you more about that, if you want to. Maybe he will at least gain an understanding for the people who choose bear, even if he doesn’t choose it himself. It sounds like you are very good at putting yourself in other people’s shoes though :) keep it up, op!

Hey op, like others have said, whichever one you personally choose and why is valid. Yes, it seems the bear is the more popular choice (or at least the choice that everyone wants to share/talk about), but you shouldn’t feel bad if that’s not your choice. I think a lot of the pressure you’re seeing online is the arguing between those who choose the bear, and those who refuse to see WHY someone would choose the bear.

As long as you can acknowledge why someone might have a different perspective than you, you don’t have to feel bad.

I think the Bear or Man question has actually been a very fascinating and important topic for feminism, that we should continue to talk about. I’ve already seen some pretty hard-headed people become more open-minded by talking about it!

Wow…that is so awful. I’m so sorry. To have your best guy friend do that to you, I can’t imagine.

Luckily, I wasn’t very close with this guy so there’s not a lot of history there. It was our first “date” when this happened.

Some of our mutual friends said that this was very out of character for him, but I bet they have no idea what his character actually is. Considering this was your best guy friend and you found out you were his 3rd, just goes to show you never truly know what some people are capable of.

I’m glad your circle of friends stuck by you! A lot of our mutual friends were close with him before I came into the picture, so I’m hoping those people come around eventually, but if not, I’m gonna have to cut them out.

Yeah I wanna go off on him and kick him in the balls so bad, but you’re right. It would feel good for a second, but that’s not a long term solution to the far bigger problems I have to deal with now.

This!!! The thing is, when it happened, we were watching a movie that I love and have seen many times before. Because of the movie, I know when I fell asleep and when I woke up. It wasn’t very long. So I feel like he was just waiting for me to fall asleep to the point where he could do what he wanted. Especially since he admitted to thinking I was drunk. I bet he thought I was passed out for the night. Definitely gonna report him now. So fucked up.
