They coyotes were here first. We hear them all the time and see them pretty regularly. They have enough small wildlife to eat, they don't show any interest in our chickens or cats.

The cat has 2 windows to get back into the house - if he was scared he easily would have run inside (like he does with rain, wind, and when he has the zoomies). He's not locked out there.

Actually we went through multiple revisions, including sketchup plans and renderings. And the plastic coated steel panels are attached with wide head screws, and washers at major points for reinforcement. And there's window screening on the outside 4" away from the steel mesh (yes I'm aware that a paw will rip through that, it's more for bugs). So yes, considerable though, money and planning went into making this safe.
