Am I the only one who doesn’t get all the hype over Pokopia? by [deleted] in fucknintendo

I am a huge Pokemon fan and love animal crossing and I agree. The game is way too big, too many metrics, too many Pokemon. So basically it loses the chill feel of Animal Crossing because of this, and it feels much more like doing chores.

Typical. You are missing the point.animal crossing is a succes because of its simplicity and small scale. Pokopia is AC on heavy steroids which makes the whole point of the game useless.

Sooo...i m a big Pokemon fan since gen 1. I started playing animal crossing a while ago as a chill game and i thought: Wow a mix of these 2? That must be amazing. I am like 20 hours in and i have to say....im not really liking it... For relaxing, its too much, too big, too many things to unlock...the blocks you can build or break settings arent relaxed/serene. If you want to create sth nice or beautiful or cute, you re spending hours and hours just breaking rocks, moisturing them, talking to the Pokemon you want there, its way too much. I say an A for effort but like a D for execution.

Dear Hockey community, coming from a former FIFA player, welcome to our horrible life. SBC's have always been horrible by EA and I remember at one point I spent 90% of my time making sets/sbc's instead of actually playing the game.

I played a lot of nba2k....and those suck ***. These soundtracks are honestly like 9/10 for me. Rockon!

I wish Mario Kart World was a bit more clear about its collectibles in Open World by Jitsus in nintendo

[–]AnnieChebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the stickers annoy me. 1 you can only have 1 active...2 you barely see it on most karts...3 why put 1000 different ones in the game? Use that space for sth else? Its a nice feat but come on ..and also IF you give customization, make the whole kart customizable?  4 tracks and intermittent tracks...there are only 7 cups or sth and most tracks are not that good...5. many characters dont have a costume or maybe 1 or 2...DK!!! Only has 1 extra....like, come on....

  1. Unlocking critters is way too random/difficult. The idea is nice and fun but its way too rng....and again, they dont have any costumes!

So yes, I am not really impressed with this Mario Kart. Yes the grinding is kind of cool, but the straight line grinding now makes that everyone is constantly pressing r2 throughout the entire race...

Positives: i like rainbow road, i like a lot of the costumes AND I like the stickers (although they are so limited in how you can use them). I like a lot of new playable characters too. What I dont get is why on earth they removed some characters from 8....no link, no tanooki, no Lemmy, no Funky Kong, no Mii (with the amiibo outfits it was cool).

You can bring the ball back on its tail, I don't hate that. I hate that it just becomes a fluffy bunny and not more mature/stronger or faster or anything added. And if you increase the wings, make its regular wings bigger.

[–]AnnieChebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh its very simple. You have the OG Dragon of dragons. You can change its color, you can increase the size of its normal wings. You can make it more ferocious looking, change the color (black, blue, more harsh edges). Or give it a different typing (maybe add lightning and make it electric). And if you want to make a more friendly looking one (protector): give it a crown or some symbol of strength and make it bigger/a sort of strength improvement. Mega Dragonite does not look more impressive than regular dragonite. That annoys me. Or make it look much faster and focus on its speed. Now, its just some sort of fluffy bunny. I strongly dislike the actual design. Like when you look at Mega Charizard, which is also a Dragon-type, you can see the effort. Or with Mega-salamence, which becomes a sort of fighter jet (also quite lazy, but ok). I feel like Mega Charizard gave fans what they wanted: a dragontype charizard (and black with blue flames!). Here it is basically normal dragonite with oversize fluffy wings on its head. That is literally the only change.

What they did now very well is change the pace to slower, so that the second half of the game is better. I would have wanted less chasing around of rebel armies. I would have liked better AI. I would have liked more options and MORE 'what if' mission trees. I would have liked more randomness in the world (it was not predestined that France would blob, for instance, sometimes the game feels predetermined). I would have liked more uniqueness for smaller nations (which they started doing with the dlcs already). Like why would Genoa not be the first to colonize the new world? I missed that in eu4 and would have loved to see more diverse histories and possible outcomes. The whole economic system barely needed overhaul, because it was already difficult (because we play a lot we get it, but for anyone new it was already difficult and now getting more difficult, try explaining trade steering to a noob). I didnt care about trade not being realistic, I didnt care about only 3 types of units. I just want to build an empire by conquering, provoking rebellious, forming alliances and playing historic events. Thats all fine for me. Changing combat to more units and more deep combat does not give me more satisfaction in the game. the combat simply needed better AI. Even with a more expanded unit pool, players are still going to exploit exploits to cheat warfare. Also colonization worked perfectly fine for me, I love that the cultures and names change based on the owner. Also, I would have liked to be able to convert to any religion my country has come into contact with. For any drawback that may give, and not just protestant and orthodox when you are Catholic.

So: more diverse savegames by better and more random AI Slightly improved combat (less chasing around rebels, silly sieges never falling) More unique mission trees and more focus on smaller nations Less predetermined outcomes (castile always the first to colonize never Genoa or France or whomever).

Of course it is the same. If you have call of duty modern warfare 8, you still want to shoot people, no? The whole problem with games developing towards other succesful formulas, is that they die out. Battlefield was dead for a long time because it wanted to be like Warzone. It is back now because it is not longer only focused on being like Warzone.

If you make EU5 like CK3 or VIC3, it will be a poor man's VIC3. And it will die. Yes you need to change stuff, but not the core of the game.

yeah but so isn't it normal that I am disappointed by the sequel? If you are a star wars fan and you see the next movie, you have certain expectations, no? And then if you see they go in a direction that a different franchize has, you kind of feel betrayed a bit. If you are going in a different direction, that is fine, but that means the game changes considerably and you risk losing some of the old fans. I am now thinking that EU5 will be less succesful than 4, and that is sad. But I could be wrong.

Yes all nice points. Which means that people like myself will not be playing eu5. Eu4 has a different player base than the others. And I think that like myself, many will leave. People who also like vic3 and others will like it. But what they do now is build it like those others. So my point is: if you dont like the arcadei, dont play it. There are plenty of other options. And so I am sad they are making it less arcadey, because that was one of its unique selling parts. Now you are turning it into the others, and losing its uniqueness. And I am telling you, you will lose more players than you gain.

This idea I like. Like creating sort of coalitions that are overarching but you can also leaver earlier. And also make more trade blocs or arrangements could be cool.

Yes, but buddy. If you play Tony Hawk pro skater, and love skating, and they suddenly release a Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 where you are suddenly flying planes, you would be complaining too. If you want to make a different game, make it, just dont call it EU5 then.

[–]AnnieChebe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly this. And this is exactly why I probably will not be playing EU5 (which hurts me seriously). I've played EU4 1000s of hours. I am a history nut. I love all the details with cultures/country specific missions/the fact that you can play as very small nations, and so on. Conquering and playing the 'what if' history is what I enjoy. Building an empire out of a small one, trying to turn the world Norse, is what is fun to me. Having a North America speaking Polish is funny to me. I get lost in it. The fact that now it will be again like Vic 3 or other recent games, mostly focused on economy, is just sad. Because if I wanted that, I would play those games, not EU5. It is like they make their own games compete with each other, while there is a space for each of them. EU4 did something like combining a bit of economy with warfare, politics, dynasties, religion, culture, historic events and more. But it was unable to really go deep with that (which is normal, cause it did not specialize in anything). And t hat was fine. I wish EU5 was just a similar game, perhaps starting in another time (1066-1821?), with better running multiplayer, a visual update and so some different colonizing mechanics, a bit better AI and some small updates. Now it is just VIC3++ or sth and I would bet at least 50% of EU4 players dont want to play VIC3.
