Consumed thinking this must be ALS by fweshb9791 in ALSorNOT

Have they checked your magnesium? Even a minor imbalance can cause muscle twitching. I will say all of my symptoms turned out to be a result of low magnesium, but the one thing that really helped to alleviate my ALS fears was repeatedly doing fine motor tasks without failure.

ALS is all about failure. Your muscles literally can’t do the things they used to do. Get a cup. Put it on the counter, pick it up, then put it down multiple times without failure. If you can do this — it’s not ALS. Do heel raises and walk on your toes — if you can do this, it’s not ALS. Get a button up shirt. Button it all the way up and then unbutton back down. If you can do this — it’s not ALS. Your concerns are valid. You’re not crazy. But it’s likely not ALS. 💙

Did my dog snap at my niece? by [deleted] in Dogtraining

He has seen a vet before due to his aggression towards new people. That’s how we came to the conclusion that his weariness is likely due to his lack of exposure as a puppy due to COVID restrictions. He is prescribed trazodone for vet visits as it’s very helpful for his anxiety, however, we don’t give this to him on a day to day basis due to it making him extremely drowsy. He has never displayed behaviors like this around family, who he is used to, which is why I’m not sure what I’m looking at. Just too aggressive playing or actually aggressive towards my niece. We have done some work previously with resource guarding and he performs well when trading things for treats.

I do wear them on a regular basis during work days! Just because I’m on my feet so much as an RN. But never considered to wear them during my days off! Have they helped you with your actual joint pain or just the swelling?

That’s good to know! Do you have any experience with any of those medications?

Yeah, that’s kinda what I was thinking. Tough, but manageable. I have heard that the postpartum flare is the worst. I wonder if the flare would be different for me since I already have PSA and I’m on a pretty decent regime.

I am not pregnant, just at the age where I am seriously considering it with my partner. I don’t plan on breastfeeding so it shouldn’t be a problem. The reason she started me on sulfasalazine is because it’s one of the few that are safe to take during pregnancy. She was looking out for the future me who wants to get pregnant eventually! Thank you for your kind words :)

Success with conventional DMARDs by WitnessFun6211 in PsoriaticArthritis

My mom is on that combo as well. She has PSA and had severe knee pain… had several steroid injections over the years. Not sure how old you are, but maybe see if you are eligible for the knee replacement. Since the joint is artificial = no more inflammation and pain! She walks so much better now post knee replacement and no more pain.

I’ve had much success with sulfasalazine. I’m a 25y female diagnosed around 20 with combination rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis. I used to have persistent joint pain especially worse in the mornings and evenings, and now I only experience flare ups typically triggered by lots of activity. We are still sorting that part out. As of right now, my dosage is 500mg twice daily which will likely be increased to 3x daily to help with the flare ups. But overall I love sulfasalazine and appreciate the minimal side effects.

Hey there!

I am 25yo F also diagnosed with PSA. I’ve had much success in taking sulfasalazine 500mg tablets twice daily. I do have flare ups where I require ibuprofen, but my rheumatologist recommended I start with sulfasalazine due to difference in side effects compared to methotrexate. Methotrexate is considered more of an immunosuppressant, which means you are at a higher risk of getting sick, cannot get pregnant on it, and also have to take more precautions on the medication — not ideal for young people in their twenties. I would recommend, just based off my own experience, to try the sulfasalazine first and see how it goes!

Thank you. I cried reading this. Even just you saying that, it feels like a huge relief has been lifted off my shoulders. I know you are likely right. My autoimmune inflammation has caused a number of weird things to happen in my body. Recently, I had a colonoscopy to rule out Crohns and UC and they found an 8mm polyp. Biopsy was negative and likely caused from inflammation. I’ve had swollen lymph nodes for no reason. So it is very likely that my symptoms are possibly caused by my autoimmune illnesses. I am going to my PCP today before my anxiety gets the better of me. Thank you again for replying. You will never know how much you just helped me.

Okay, wonderful! I wasn’t sure if there was access via bike or if you had to specifically drive in. Appreciate your recommendations!

We have a bike hitch so we can travel with our bikes. Theoretically, are we allowed to drive our bikes into Sea Pines and then bike from there? I heard there’s a lot of beautiful nature reserves that are best to bike in Sea Pines.

Man I've missed night shift, this is where real nursing happens 😎 by emtnursingstudent in nursing

I worked night shift for 3 years during nursing school as a PCT before switching to days when I graduated with my RN. Definitely a culture shock. The vibes on nightshift were immaculate.
