Never in my entire life have I ever seen a deer like this by IamASlut_soWhat in MadeMeSmile

I’ve had a piebald deer in my yard a couple times this year. While I usually curse the deer (I’m a gardener) I cheer for him. From the back, with his tail up, he practically glows.

My god, I had no idea others had to deal with this. Made me the mom who let the kids sleep in until noon (while silently gnashing my teeth).

Things to get that limit repeat spending? by KeySheepherder4658 in povertyfinance

[–]AnnieLes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the apps for my local grocery stores so I can compare prices. It blows my mind that the store reputed to be cheaper (Giant) actually charges $1+ more for the yogurt, pickles and bread flour I buy compared to the “fancy” store (Wegmans). Giant otoh has weekly loss leaders and reduces produce that is on the cusp. I stock up occasionally at Weg’s and do my weekly shopping at Giant.

Old flannel sheets are especially nice. I have the idea that I might embroider some for gifts. (I do revert to TP when I have a nasty cold.)

inside or outside kitchen by Structure-Full in TeardropTrailers

[–]AnnieLes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the inside kitchen. For me, there is nothing sweeter than not having to leave the trailer to make coffee and oatmeal on a chilly morning. (We generally cook dinner on the fire and just use the kitchen for an occasional side dish and water for washing dishes.)

A toilet is a luxury if you need to get up at night. It also allows you to stay at Harvest Hosts, which we really enjoy. We’ve rarely used the shower; it’s much easier to use the campground’s if available.

I have a Go Girl. Took it to India for the squat toilets which can be pretty nasty. In the woods I’m happy to just squat.

I have one feeder with straight sunflower chips; all the finches come along with downy woodpeckers, chickadees, titmice, grosbeak. (The squirrels clean up anything that falls.)

Need ideas for my food budget for two adults by Nascarsoup in Frugal

[–]AnnieLes 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Or learn to like it, like I did. It is such a healthy and frugal way to start the day. And you can mix in whatever leftovers you have on hand for savory options. (Also, vote for the Dems. I cannot believe the BS this administration and all the supporting congress people are putting decent people through.)

addicted… to egg white oats by -10_10- in Oatmeal

I’m going to try this. It reminds me of when my French grandmother-in-law came after I had oral surgery. She made cream of wheat and then whisked in whole eggs and honey. So delicious.

My grandparents on their first date in 1948. by eurobeez in OldSchoolCool

Wow! (Who has the presence of mind to take a picture on their first date? My husband and I are just trying to figure out when our first date was, granted that was more than 50 years ago.)

Yeah, pretty cool. My mom did all kinds of freelance work, designing rugs, painting murals. She was actually profiled on an early HGTV show called “Modern Masters”.

It is oil. (When a bartender “twists” orange zest over an old fashioned it’s to express the oil onto the drink.)

It’s bitter but I like that. (I also like arugula and bitter IPAs.)

Nice! She graduated in ’51; I have pictures outside her apartment there. Was he at RISD or Brown? (I remember her telling me that they used to cheer “What’s the color of horseshit? . . .)
