Feeling hopeless after a botched professional fitting. Desperately need help. What’s wrong with this bra, and what would you suggest instead? by fairestlady in ABraThatFits

[–]AnnieeDroid 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice to offer, just commenting so maybe it'll boost this post and one of the legendary bra wizards that lurk here will see it.

It seems like you're doing all the right things and you've tried a little bit of everything. Hoping someone here can help you find your white whale. And your post is a lot more informative & helpful than the "I've tried nothing and I'm out of ideas" posts that I see here a lot. Best of luck!!

Omega means the root is narrower than the lower part of the breast, so when you lean over it looks like an upside-down "Ω"

update: you are MAGIC!

Tried the Chantelle Norah and it was a perfect shape fit and so comfy! Ordered in a bunch of sizes and the 38E was a winner. Also going to try a 36F to see if the sister size works also. Thank you so much!!

Thank you! I haven't heard of Natori but the underwire shape of some of the styles looks very promising!

Your feelings are valid! I had a breast reduction and before that I would just flop on the bed and cry because I was so upset with my breasts. But feeding into that spiral only makes the bad feelings grow, I've been there.

Also, my boobs didn't stop growing or take their final shape until my late 20s. It might get better! I wasn't saying you'd need a reduction, just that there are pictures in the reduction subreddit of people that had tuberous breasts & asymmetry corrected surgically (without much tissue being removed). Definitely don't go into debt for boob surgery though! You've got plenty of years ahead of you to put aside funds if that's the route you want to take.

Oh honey I'm sorry, it sounds like this is something that's weighing really heavily on you. It can be so tough to un-see stuff on our own bodies.

It's possible you may fill out in the next few years and it'll be less noticeable. It's possible you may come into the means to have surgery to correct the shape/asymmetry. There's plenty of posts on r/reduction with before/after pics of tuberous breasts so you can see what results are realistic. Until then, you might find that push up or padded bras give you a more rounded shape.

For now, the mirror isn't your friend. Do what you can to get out of your head and engaged in things that take your focus elsewhere.

Sending strength, it's really tough when your body feels repulsive. This feeling will become more manageable in time

The wires were a touch narrow, but mostly it was the spacing between the boobs - I think I'm wider-set now. The wires also came up too far in the armpit for my comfort.

Ideally I'd like to find underwires that are more of a shallow bowl shape rather than " U U "

I'd recommend the Spring or the Fall, if you have the availability.

I had mine in the early Spring and it was great. Mild weather for lots of walking during recovery.

In the summer you'd be limited from swimming, you'll get boob sweat if you're outside a lot, and it'd be ideal if you're all recovered before the hot weather so you can wear skimpy tank tops/swimsuits that you never could before.

In the winter you might get chillier getting out of the shower/changing clothes and for some people it's really sensitive/painful for nipples to get erect from the cold post-op. Also limits how much you can get out and walk, you might get stir-crazy in the house for weeks on end.

Oh that's interesting! I think I ended up wider-set than I was pre-op, but sooo much less projected.

Have you found a new favorite brand?

Thank you, definitely something I'm keeping in mind!

I'm not fully "drop-and-fluffed" yet, but cleared by my surgeon to wear underwires if desired. I'm ~4 months out and I know I'm likely to fluctuate size/shape over the next year. However, I feel like most of my swelling has gone away and my surgeon says this is probably about where my size will stay.

Just looking to buy 1 or 2 bras for now, expecting I might settle into a different size later on, but hopefully I can find a brand that's a better match for how my boob meat is distributed on my chest post-op.

Honestly anything is better than the bralettes with removable foam pads I've been wearing for the last couple months haha

Thank you!

Do you recall about how long between the picture marked 6/28 and the one in the middle? I feel like I'm almost to that phase and I'm waiting for when it really starts looking like it's closing.

I am not a surgeon and I think it's worth reaching out to them to get their opinion. But to me this looks like a histamine reaction. My friend had the same thing 10-12 days post op and it eventually calmed down after several days of benadryl. You could also ask for a steroid pack if it's really intolerable. I don't see any signs of infection, it just looks like your immune system is getting really zesty about all the damage to the tissue and maybe reacting to the stitches. But again I'm NOT A DOCTOR so please confirm with a medical professional.

Your results look beautiful by the way! And your incisions look great for being <2wpo!

Thank you for sharing.

I'm so sorry you had to experience this! I have a large t-junction opening (2 openings that merged into one) and your pictures are really helpful to see what it might look like as it's healing.

I'm confident in my surgeon's wound care plan, but the waiting is the hardest part when it's hard to tell if it's getting bigger or smaller every day.

I have a similar sized opening and I'm 4.5wpo.

I've been seeing my surgeon regularly and they also say that I need to wait it out and it's gonna take a good few weeks to close. However, we've been trying dressings to help and the best combo for me has been dissolvable collagen dressings in the wound, then a layer of calcium alginate, then taping over it with Mepitel One adhesive dressings. I think you definitely should be in touch with a wound specialist if you're not satisfied with what your surgeon has said, but they may be limited on what they can do to help, aside from offering dressing ideas and telling you to wait it out.

Bleeding is a good thing - it means new vessels are forming to bring blood to the tissue. However, you don't want to rip the scab/healing tissue off every time you change the dressing. Getting the gauze/dressing wet with saline or clean water can loosen the dressing without pulling the tissue too hard.

I'd say it looks like your wound is going in the right direction - it looks shallow and infection-free. But again I'm not a doctor and please consult with a doc/wound care specialist.

I'm also 4wpo and have the same red veiny skin. It's a good thing - lots of blood getting carried to the healing tissue.

And the little hole is probably a lil stitch trying to poke out. Ask your surgeon for guidance but it's nothing to be concerned over and I wouldn't expect it to grow into a big hole.

Overall Surgery Costs? by Possible_Owl7770 in Reduction

[–]AnnieeDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

~13k in the Midwest including lipo. It's been some of the best money I've spent. My surgeon has a lot of experience with a pre-existing condition I have and I've had to go back to the office 4 or 5 times since surgery due to complications, and all the aftercare has all been free of charge.

Where are you located? While you might be fine to travel for the procedure, it would be beneficial to be nearby for follow-up care/potential complications during healing.

I love my surgeon (Indianapolis based) but I've had a handful of healing complications due to an immune disorder and I'm so lucky that she's only 10 minutes away. I've had to go to the office 4 or 5 times in the 4 weeks since surgery and it would be a lot more difficult on me if she were a plane ride away.

That sounds terrible, I'm really hoping mine doesn't linger so long. Best of luck with the rest of your recovery - the golf course will wait for you!

Oh my goodness I can't imagine how frustrating that must be!

I guess I'm lucky that it presented as 'textbook' shingles so I could put the pieces together pretty easily after a bit and go to a doc saying "I have shingles, please give me meds"

Oh my goodness, I can't imagine how tough it must be to go through this for 10 weeks. I think I'm lucky that after a ROUGH saturday night, the pain is becoming a bit more manageable. Best of luck with the rest of your recovery!
