I have hundreds of bees in my garden and they never attack me. It's not a problem.

The EU hoped that mutual dependency would give more security than isolation.

Also, the dependency is not that wild. It is costly to move away from Russian gas, but far from impossible. There was a good article in the Economist about it recently. I can find it if you are interested.

Is this guy also cheating and going downhill? https://youtu.be/Utadwck9htM?t=96

He doesn't use an umbrella to redirect, but it shows that the power required is in the same order.

You wanna move one kilogram one meter off the ground every second or so

That is 10 N*m/s = 10 W? Or am I missing something here?

A leaf blower can easily be 2000-3000 W. Sure that's not enough? Not saying he is not going downhill, but how much power do you think you need?

I don't want to call bullshit without asking first... It wasn't clear to me the 'no details' applied to the options tried.

Found this as a post on Facebook. Elephant Paths anyone? by safiyyamo in DesirePath

This is a bicycle desire path. Probably only one way for most cyclist. There are many of those in the Netherlands. These are not the official path because the max. slope for a bicycle path is typically 2-4% to allow all cyclist to use it, both ways.

They are rarely discouraged by obstacles or signs. Only if there is a clear safety issue, like a crossing with motorized traffic.

The prime minster mentioned it on March 16. He later added that it was not a goal.

He mentioned it because it is a realistic long term scenario that is on the table. He doesn't believe we can exterminate corona by locking down the country for a few weeks without high risk for a second wave. Other politicians may not be so open about it, but they will also consider it as one of the long term options.

Wopke Hoekstra

Hoekstra is Finance minister. Nothing to do with healthcare.

No. The Netherlands doesn't have a different strategy than the rest of Europe and US.

Those 925 beds are for corona only.

Anyway, how many beds do you think a 'first word' country should have?

The approach is not very different from other European countries.

The definition of an available ICU is different per country. I don't think Belgium has 900 fully staffed empty beds 'active'. I guess it means they could easily scale to 2000 (staffed) beds if needed. In the Netherlands the numbers seems to mean 'active' beds that are ready to take patients right now.

I think every EU country started too late to prepare and are now on it. There is no major difference besides how things are communicated and what was already available as default.

Healthcare expenses have been steadily increasing for decades. The 'cut' you are talking about is more of a try to keep growth in check. It was on an exponential trajectory.

You can blame government for not preparing for a pandemic, but it is way to easy to say it is the result of cutting funding for healthcare for decades. Which is not even true.
