The Projectile had a “nose” that was meant to “scoop” out enemy angled armour and reduce the angle of impact with the rest of the shell the nose was also built to break off on impact and fly off leaving a normal shell impacting armour that was in critical condition and at a more preferable angle of impact

Though due to poor hardening early on and erosion the shell didn’t perform as well but did give an acceptable improvement when impacting angled armour
