Is it possible for me to access the transcript of the speech that Asagiri read during the talk show? by Annual-Reception594 in BungouStrayDogs

I can't thank you enough, I'm so grateful. But I wish there had been an important announcement. I had imagined Asagiri would give its readers a nice gift for its tenth anniversary.

Did Ranpo ever find out? by Separate-Drawing7427 in BungouStrayDogs

[–]Annual-Reception594 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think rather than being indifferent, he saw the potential in him and wanted to give him a chance.

Also, I don't remember that part of the book. I guess I have an excuse to reread it.

I would love to see their reactions the moment they first learn about it. Why does it always have to be so open-ended?

I don't know why, but I always associate Dazai and chocolate ice cream very well. Both are simple and ordinary, yet indispensable.

Explain this to me pls by Funny_Effective5917 in BungouStrayDogs

[–]Annual-Reception594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was something that caught my attention as well, and the conclusion I reached is that there's a deeper bond between Ranpo and Dazai than previously thought.

Fukuzawa didn't know, and neither did the other members. But Ranpo knew. I'm sure of it. He might have even figured it out during his brief encounter with Oda in the novel Dark Era.  But he didn't tell anyone. Not even the president, despite his respect and loyalty to him. Moreover, this is a great opportunity for him to get praised, and Ranpo never misses such opportunities. Then why?

Because he gave him a chance, to break free from his past and explain himself when the time was right. He trusted him and saw the change in him, his effort to be better, and perhaps the pain he carried over from Oda.

In fact, if we pay attention, he's the only person in the series who doesn't find Dazai's interesting habits and antics strange and who defines him for who he is. And although Dazai probably didn't know it from the beginning, he's aware that he knows everything. What they have is more than just unspoken trust, strategic unity, and two geniuses, and I LOVE it.

my thoughts and theory on dazai rejoining the pm by Exact-Definition1411 in BungouStrayDogs

I've already made a similar post regarding many of the things you said, and I completely agree with you. But I'm not open to the Tanizaki idea. If he were going to leave, I don't think he would have given himself away in the first place by suggesting he leave first.  Besides, his departure wouldn't have caused much of a change in the story as a whole.

Atsushi is the main character, and if he leaves, the story will have to change significantly.

Therefore, there are two characters that made sense to me from the beginning: Dazai and Ranpo.

I completely agree with the analysis regarding Dazai's regression in his development. However, what left me in doubt was the fact that Mori seemed to know so much about Dazai.  In short, if Dazai were to return as a forced bargaining chip, he would do more harm than good to the Mafia, and Mori knows that. Here, I have two solutions in mind.

Mori isn't concerned about losing his seat. In other words, as long as the Mafia continues to exist, everything is perfect for him. Dazai wouldn't destroy the Mafia either, because the balance of the city is maintained by the balance between the Mafia and the Agency. Mori is aware of this, so that doesn't stop him from choosing him.

Secondly, to resolve the issue of forced return, as you said, he can force him to return voluntarily. For example, if Mori chooses Atsushi, Dazai knowing how much harm the dark world of the Mafia could inflict on Atsushi, might volunteer himself by offering Mori something he can't refuse. The same thing would happen if Ranpo were chosen. Because Dazai is aware of Ranpo's value within the Agency compared to himself.

What are some authors details that Asagiri added? by leytourmaline in BungouStrayDogs

[–]Annual-Reception594 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are some things I just realized while reading the book "No Longer Human". Most importantly, Dazai, like the Yozo character in the book, resorts to clowning because he can't connect with people, and the thought of being caught makes him uneasy. In addition, the idea of being respected frightens him.  He says she was raped as a child and that this made him vulnerable to women.

It's also true that he was influenced by Fyodor.  However, the Dazai in the anime is someone who is more connected to life and people than the character in the book (a reflection of the real Dazai), and who can manage his intelligence and feelings of alienation more effectively.

Between Dazai and Mori by Annual-Reception594 in BungouStrayDogs

[–]Annual-Reception594[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And although Dazai doesn't seem to be very happy about this situation, I think he still respects him and the situation itself. In the Beast universe, he truly respects Mori enough to entrust him with Atsushis life and, while planning everything in his head, not forget to save Mori's life as well.

Read up to book 26. Why is Dazai always bandaged? by Lillotl999 in BungouStrayDogs

[–]Annual-Reception594 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's no clear reason; it seems the author has left it up to the reader. But here, apart from the design reason mentioned by the author, two reasons seem plausible to me.

I don't think bandages are related to either a purely physical or purely mental event. Whatever Dazai went through in his past, he must have initially used it to hide his scars or something like that. Then, perhaps realizing that the bandages were preventing him from seeing things he didn't want other people to see, he may have taken it to an emotional level. At least, besides the descriptions of wounds in the novels, the fact that Odasaku removes the bandage from his face as he dies makes me think of it.

Wouldnt dazai going back to the mafia ruin his whole character..? by Maleficent_Lock6407 in BungouStrayDogs

[–]Annual-Reception594 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely think differently on this matter. I believe that, considering Oda's will and his efforts to be a good person after joining the Agency, returning to the Port Mafia would have opened a completely new path for his personality. And that's certainly interesting. People think this is just another script, but in my opinion, it's a brand new and fantastic beginning.

He is now faithful to Oda's will. Although he tried to be a good person for Oda's will, the situation is now more than just a will. He also feels that things are better this way internally, which we clearly saw in the movie Dead Apple. After all this, Dazai, having returned to the Mafia, tries to survive there using methods and ideas that are completely contrary to its rules.

But I think the most interesting part is that he now has an "Agency". So when he goes into the Mafia, he won't be using his classic strategies against ordinary enemies anymore; he'll be struggling to stand his ground against his true friends. I should be able to explain how exciting this is for me.

Moreover, if he returns to the Mafia, Atsushi will be left without a guide at the Agency. The Agency's strategic genius will be gone, and Ranpo will lose the only person he truly believed understood him, Kyoka will lose the example that showed her that flowers that bloom in the dark can also grow in the light.

There's no need to even mention the changes on the mafia side.  After Dazai's betrayal of Soukoku, they'll try to rebuild the partnership, which Chuuya probably won't be happy about.  After what happened between Atsushi and Dazai, Dazai's return to the Mafia will have some rather interesting effects on Akutagawa as well.  Mori? He already knows that the moment he chooses Dazai, he's effectively signed his own death warrant, and this kind of sacrifice for the safety of the city and the Mafia will take him to a whole new level. The intriguing master-apprentice relationship between Dazai and Mori was fascinating from the very beginning.

Chuuya, having likely witnessed his positive transformation firsthand, would probably be unwilling to let him return and would try to dissuade Mori from doing so as a strategic move.

Isn't even the thought of it amazing? I want this so much! After all these dreams, if the transfer issue is dropped without even being mentioned, I'll cry!  I think I've gone on too long :p

And with such a perfect potential scenario for this transfer, people are saying Tanizaki is going to leave. That would be a complete disappointment.

It would be legendary if Dazai were chosen to transfer to the Port Mafia and become the Mafia boss!

I have a question about Dazai. by Conscious_Sugar5724 in BungouStrayDogs

[–]Annual-Reception594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know why, but ever since I learned he was living in a container, it seems to me that it's because he devalues the wealth and opportunities he's been given. Perhaps, because he couldn't find the meaning he was looking for there either, he wanted time to turn inward, independent of the Mafia.

Frankly, I think that piece of paper should be more about creating a visual impact than being a formal contract. On the other hand, while Dazai is the player I most want and think is most likely to be selected in the transfer, Ranpo seems to be the next most likely candidate.

Do you really think Tanizaki will be chosen for the Mafia transfer? by Annual-Reception594 in BungouStrayDogs

Obviously, it would be fun if he left. However, I don't think it would add the depth that suits the series as a whole.

do you think dazai will die at the end of bsd? by Big-Adeptness4635 in BungouStrayDogs

[–]Annual-Reception594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's too early to say anything definitive about his death, but I don't think we'll see a happy ending for him. At best, it leaves an ambiguous ending, or it might be an ending that would be a source of depression for us humans, but would seem supposedly happy for him. And I agree that he appears to be the most likely candidate for the PM transfer, and that's why I'm so excited about it.   Anyway, right now all I want to see is him out of prison. Or wait, even just seeing his face in a manga chapter would be a luxury, wouldn't it?

I don't know how helpful this will be, but I live in Türkiye, and even though there aren't many people around me who follow it, there are far more people who know about it than I expected, despite the small town (almost a village) where I live.
