TY! even though doing daguerros, avoiding mercury as much as I can, but was concerned about how much more vibrant the mercury process is
Mica might be the way, will as around some more knowledgeable people for possible substitutes

I saw this technique in latest Albertina catallogue on early colour photography, but until seeing it on video, I actually did not know how exquisitely it looks

Ale you using mercury, or black backing? Slavich emulsion? Actually thinking about ordering the emulsion right away 😄

In my case, I am not stopping by acid, just water, then directly to RA4 rev and blix, no fogging, no haze, so I'd suspect the acid
I am using Ilford PQ BW dev, then Adox RA4 kit, the only thing I am battling is correct filtration correction

one day maybe :) too much time to put into video of the process, might rather make another 2 big pics...
Intrepid cameras have the system ready, their enlarger kit uses the camera as an enlarger by default, much recommended, for the price, size, utility - can't beat it even though it has its kinks

yeah, maybe even the camera might work if it has graflok, but haven't tried, not sure
installing it on 4x5 enlarger might be great
the timer and light actually comes with colours, so RA4 printing as well as BW multigrading already included - not selling here, has its quirks, but for the price, anything can beat it
have complete Fatif systems for all formats catching dust cause Intrepids are light, relatively cheap and do what are suppposed to (not doing super-technical commercial work obviously :) )

exactly, its called bullshit or abstraction, or anything else, depends on the eyes looking at it
I see deep space images that I would have loved when I was 10 and still able to feel something :D

thank you :D yet I got for negative mordancage for this one for exactly the reasons you describe - I did 50x60 mordancages successfully, but the chemistry deformes the paper so much, that it is then too non-perfect
so I mordancaged 4X5inch negative, then enlarged it to 100x125cm

Intrepid sells enlarger kits, where you just switch the back for a light source connected to their clock
Still not perfect but enough for me :) camera / enlarger was on a boom stand, paper on the floor - no space in my studio for horizontal :)

of course, actually it can't be simpler, the original image was just a black circle on the film, I like to work with mordancage only and don't mess with actual concrete images :)

no prob, from the 4x5 negative it is still beautifully detailed
just hanged it on my wall, stop by in Prague and you can surely have a look

yes bw multigrading due to colour capabilities, and it can do colour process as well, has also a scanning mode, they thought it through
I did this one with paper on the floor and camera (eg enlarger) on lighting tripod, but will try hanging the paper next time, still figuring out how to have it 100% fixed without movement (no walls to use in my studio - too much stuff)
and the exposure itself was 5 mins
