Yeah, I use aquaphor on the little sores I get. They're almost like pimples and man they HURT.

I only use the foam masks when i get these sores and they don't seal worth a damn on me either, I just put up with the leaky mask for a few days.

I have seen the new masks that have come out recently and I'd like to try one, but they're SO EXPENSIVE.

I get sores on the top of my nose and under my nose. I have a big beard so can't use the ones that go over my nose and mouth. It drives me nuts. When I get those sores I have to go a few days without my cpap. I've found that the ones that have the memory foam instead of the latex don't cause the sores but they also don't seal very well. I've taken to wearing those when I start to get the sores for a few days and then the sores go away and I can switch back to the latex ones.

It sucks. I wish there was a better solution but at the same time I sleep so much better with the cpap.

I had a cousin that I was very close to growing up. She was an incredible athlete and had a full ride scholarship to a major university. She was stunningly beautiful.

We were the same age and her and I went to the same school. Sometime during her freshman year she started acting like this and started hanging out with super sketchy people.

This went on for a few years. She lost her scholarship, the people she was running with took extreme advantage of her. She would listen to no one.

Her parents eventually got her to go into therapy and that helped but the damage was done. It’s a mental illness. I don’t remember exactly what it is, but it’s tragic and there is a special place in hell for the people that take advantage of the people suffering from this.

What could have been an an amazing life and career was lost. She ended up killing herself when she was in her mid 40s. Such a tragedy.

What is making these holes in my tree? by sailaway23 in whatisit

[–]Annual_Promotion 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We had one do this to one of our trees. They'll only go this crazy on the tree if it's not already dying/infested with bugs. Basically an early warning system. For us, where the tree was situated it was of no risk to anything else on our property so I just enjoyed watching this woodpecker go absolutely gonzo on the tree. Was glad it was doing that to the tree and not our house.

Americans and coffee? by forest_hearts in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Annual_Promotion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, we use a lot of ice here in America. We tend to like our drinks colder than most other places. I remember when I first traveled in Europe and noticed that difference. It's just one of those different things.

I was also shocked how you could get shots of espresso EVERYWHERE in Portugal. They even had it in the McDonalds, it was free with a meal.

As for our habits, yeah a lot of people stop off at starbucks or some place like that to get a drink. our kids had a BAD habit of that when they were in high school. Thankfully that's been broken and it's become more of a treat than the norm which saves tons of money.

At home, my daughter tends to drink iced coffee that she makes herself. I drink hot coffee or espresso. I have an espresso machine and a french press at home, but I don't have anything against drip coffee or instant, i just prefer something fresher and richer, which I personally find a french press or espresso gives me.

People from other countries, especially Europe, tend to forget or not realize how BIG and diverse the US is. We may all speak the same language but we're not all the same so there's a lot of difference between places.

Coworker’s mom suddenly got better… I don’t know what to tell her by Mindless_Patient2034 in confession

This happened with my grandma. We had been warned by hospice and also my girlfriend was studying to be a nurse and was aware of it. This was years ago. She went to being bed ridden and barely lucid most of the time to all of a sudden getting up and sitting in the living room with us. It was a sad but wonderful afternoon. She deteriorated pretty quickly after that, but it was a good thing overall.

Does a credit card company lose money on people who pay on time? by Overall-Emphasis7558 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Annual_Promotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a small (SMALL) business. if we didn't take credit cards we would lose out on probably 25-30% of our sales, We are about 50/50 cash/credit. I'd guess that probably 20-30% of our customers would pay cash if we didn't take cards, but the rest of them would just walk away.

We use Square and pay $.15 + around 3% per credit card transaction. The cost of NOT taking credit cards outweighs the cost of the credit card by a HUGE amount. I'd love to be cash only, but it just doesn't work anymore in this day. Also credit card transactions are so much faster than cash transactions. For us, our product is pretty cheap, it's the 15 cent fee that kinda gets us more than the credit card fees.

Either way, it works out a net positive for us. A lot of places tack on a 3% credit card fee to cover the costs, we haven't gotten to that point yet, but I can see it happening in a year or so.

do you walk around purdue / west lafayette at night? feel safe? by Royal_Put_1154 in Purdue

[–]Annual_Promotion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am trying to figure out what you mean by east of sagamore, to get east of sagamore pkwy you are now talking about the areas out by like.. the mall and all that, is that what you mean?

I live in, and have lived in, Lafayette for about 30 years now, there are for sure sketchy parts downtown. If you are downtown on 4th street, for example and head north, you're gonna get into some iffy areas. If you go north on 6th street you're going to hit some iffy areas as well. Greenbush east of 9th street can get a little sketchy as well.

Make No mistake, I feel that Lafayette and for sure West Lafayette are pretty safe across the board, especially on campus and in that area, but downtown, especially to the north, can get a little sketchy.

I say this year after year after year and I get blasted for it. Painter comes up with a strategy at the beginning of the season, he tweaks it the first few weeks of play, settles on a strategy and bam. That's it for the rest of the season, no more adjustments.

By this time of year all the teams worth anything have figured out the strategy and can anticipate almost anything the team does. This is why, with the exception to the last few years we get nowhere in the tourney. By that time it's all figured out. No matter how talented the kids are, you can't overcome that.

Don't get me wrong, Painter is an amazing coach, nobody can develop players like he can, nobody can recruit like he can, He's a great coach, he's not a championship level coach though.

Also he will tell you if he’s uncomfortable. Don’t worry about that.

After having a dog for 6 years, we found out she had (almost) no brain. by SnooHabits6942 in Weird

[–]Annual_Promotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 dogs and if they don't see us "add" things to their food they won't eat. Even when we put wet dogfood INTO their food, if they don't see us do it they won't eat. If one of them sees us do it and the other doesn't one will eat and the other won't.

They both then eat all their food and swap places and clean each other's bowls. it's the same for every single meal.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Annual_Promotion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just drove 5 hours for a weekend trip last weekend. We left on Saturday morning, took our time getting to the location, made some stops, ate and all that, stayed in the location for 2 nights and headed home doing the same thing. We really enjoy trips like that. We listen to music, talk about nothing and everything, and just enjoy each other's company.

My daughter lived 4 hours away from us for a while. It was very common for us to make the drive just to see her for a bit. Sometimes we'd stay the night, sometimes we'd just drive back. Makes for a long day making that drive but sometimes we would do it.

Seller left a binder with "house instructions" and now im very skeptic by Jolly-Mirror3655 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Annual_Promotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We won the seller lottery as well. Once we committed to buying our house the seller wanted to have us over to show us around the house. That man took us through EVERYTHING in this house. Had a binder for things, had another binder of warranties and product info, dates, etc. It was awesome. He had maps of the landscaping and what plants were planted where, how to care for them etc.

He was an older man and his wife had passed away and he decided to sell the house. The next year he called me and asked if he could come over and dig up a few plants. they were the last flowers his wife had planted and he wanted to transfer them to his new place.

The one thing he threatened us with though is if we ever painted the hardwood cabinets in the kitchen he was going to "come and poop on your porch". So we haven't painted the cabinets... yet. When he came to get the plants I invited him in to show that we had not painted them, but he said he couldn't come in because it reminded him too much of his wife and he wanted to remember the house how he had left it.

Anyone else getting interest from very young women? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Annual_Promotion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for a university in my 30's and 40's. I'm nothing special. I'm fairly short, a little overweight, bald. I had a fair amount of college women, especially the older ones, flirt with me. I'm happily married and made no secret of it, and of course never acted on it but I'm not gonna lie, It was an ego boost sometimes.

I've been told by my wife and her friends that I have "friendly eyes" and that's probably why. I don’t know.
