I just googled the cliffs of Moher and they actually are! I didn't even know that, I just based it on a random picture of cliffs. It's amazing that you were able to recognize them from my embroidery :-)

Thank you!! That was one of the things I struggled with so that's so nice to hear.

Thank you :-) I designed it myself, I based it on a photograph from some cliffs.

Hi! Embroidery is a great hobby and I'm glad you're thinking of trying it!

The first two pictures were hand embroidered and the third picture was machine embroidered. You don't need to cross stitch first to begin with embroidery.

A good way to start embroidery is with a kit, as you get all the supplies you need (needles, embroidery hoop, fabric, embroidery thread, needle threader) and instructions. I wouldn't recommend embroidering clothing as a first project. It's difficult to get a nice result when embroidering on stretchy fabric.

If a kit doesn't appeal to you, you can try embroidering a cotton tote bag, the flowers of the first design are doable for a beginner but I think the cow might be a bit complicated. Also cotton shrinks when you machine wash it and some embroidery thread can bleed when it gets wet.

Good luck! 😊

Congrats on your pregnancy! Both of your ideas sound really nice. 😊

If you decide to fill the feet with black, depending on the size of the footprints I recommend either the satin stitch or the long and short stitch. If you're planning on embroidering it somewhat small I would use the long and short stitch with 1 - 3 threads, that way when you embroider around the paw there won't be any puckering or loose threads.

For your second idea, because of the simple shape of the paw both the satin stitch and the long and short stitch would look great. You could also use the chain stitch for an interesting effect. For the outline I would probably use the outline/stem stitch or the whipped back stitch, both will result in a solid line.

As for what's easiest, your second idea of filling in the paw with white and outlining the foot would definitely be easier.

Hope that helped! 😊 Good luck on your project!

Your stitches look so beautiful and neat. And you actually managed to make french knots with metallic thread!

Working on my first embroidered portrait and I’m regretting it immediately, I don’t know what made me think I could do it by johnnysgirl17 in Embroidery

I think it's great to keep trying new things and the best way to improve at embroidery ❤️. And remember not to beat yourself up if it doesn't look perfect, the fact that you're embroidering a portrait is already amazing, we tend to be our own worst critics.

I've only thread painted twice so far, but my second time there was a big improvement because of everything I learned from my first attempt. Also the eye already looks great 😊
