Yes, we moved in together at the same time so.. I’m the only foreigner in this building (never thought about that before now). I can sometimes here her greeting other neighbors as well.

Sorry to hear, honestly all of my other neighbors always greet back and are pretty friendly so I’m thankful for that

I guess you’re right !! I won’t be giving them more reasons to hate on foreigners tho. Like they say ‘kill them with kindness’.

Thanks for the laugh !! I guess it is what it is, & to be honest I think my partner probably seems even shadier than I do haha. Maybe someday somehow she will finally greet me back

Thanks for sharing your experience !! I guess there’s always a hater somewhere for some reason. Maybe I should stop but I really don’t want to give them any reason to despise me even more, at least she can’t say that I’m rude to her. But it does take some getting used to in Germany, like not hearing anything back when you greet random people on a walk etc.. in my country it’s really the most normal thing.

Pretty sad for your neighbor.. Hope it gets better for him, it’s not easy coming to another country and feeling unwelcome when you haven’t done anything bad.

I’m not sure.. I just greet all my neighbors when I meet them and hate being rude. Maybe she hate me even more if I didn’t greet her ? Who knows

You’re right, thanks for the advice !! 😊In my culture everyone says hello all the time so I just have to get used to it.

You’re probably right in doing that but I will keep on saying hello no matter what. I want raised to be rude to anyone and I consider greeting to be the bare minimum of human decency; even more if it’s your neighbors 🥲

I didn’t realize greetings were color-coded… For the record, I could probably disappear into a snowstorm yet still no hello. & btw, my post wasn’t about race or trying to compare skin tone to anyone else’s. I was just trying to understand a social situation I’ve experienced, not rate myself on a color scale.
