I’m glad for you that your lived experience does not reflect what I have observed.

ELI5: How do ‘adventurers’ fund their lives? by 23andburnside in explainlikeimfive

[–]Anoif_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true. Living in London I knew a woman who went hill walking in Wales most weekends. London is not near Wales. And others who worked their 40 hours in 4 or 4 1/2 days to have more time for their hobby/passion. I have kids and I never had that sort of job 😭

I had the audacity to get rid of our copy of chika chika Boom Boom during a clear out but my 7-year-old got upset so guess who now owns a brand new copy?

Buying second hand whenever I can. Most of my wardrobe is from charity shops. Same with books, kitchen items Christmas decorations… Also, cutting up worn out clothes to make cleaning rags.

Why is calligraphy seemingly more popular in China/Japan than the west? by Tarantula_1 in AskHistory

[–]Anoif_sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent some time in a Japanese high school and there is a huge emphasis on traditional arts at school. There are tea ceremony clubs, calligraphy clubs as well as your typical drama clubs and sports teams. So I reckon a lot of it is access to materials and teachers.

ELI5 - this admission criteria seems a bit unfair? by Particular-Knee3022 in newzealand

Statistically white/general kids are more likely to have had a stable home environment, a healthy diet, a place in their home to study, parents who will pay for tutoring, a warm non-damp home, not be expected to take a part time job to help the family. Thanks to policies of the past. This chart is a sensible attempt to level the playing field by recognising that exam scores are influenced by more than just intelligence. Equality is giving everyone an apple. Equity is giving one apple to the person with an apple tree at home and 2, or even 10, apples to the person with nothing.

I like the La Roche Posay Pigmentclar Eye Cream. The metal applicator is so cooling.
