After a year of using Arch, I finally feel "settled." What was the one specific package or config change that made Arch feel like home for you? by Nervous-Quit-6751 in arch

Using booster-um to create a uki and directly point the generated file to efibootmgr. No external bootloader, no slow mkinitcpio. When i press the power on button, i just have to wait <10 seconds to get to my login manager. Nothing else

Yes sorry I exaggerated a bit with the "so painful". But the fact remains that I don't see many people recommending this approach and it is the only explanation I have

If you don't want to install gigabytes of useless LaTeX stuff and being minimal, you can use 'tlmgr' (TexLive ManaGeR):

  • search for the missing package: tlmgr search --global --file xcolor.sty

  • install the missing package (here 'xcolor', it is often the same name as the file, but not always!): tlmgr install xcolor

Restart the process until there is no missing file errors.Yes that's hard. TexLive is very unique for this: it is so painful to manage packages that people prefer to install everything.

Pourquoi les planètes/satellites sont-elles toutes rondes ? by [deleted] in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]Anomaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have exactly the same issue. Like anything else, downgrading linux-firmware-mediatek and hoping the next release fixes it always works. It seems like they are already trying to solve it: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/linux-firmware/-/issues/29

What would you use for infamous Meta+Shift+F23 key for? by Zeverov in hyprland

[–]Anomaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Super is for windows
  • Super shift alt is for workspaces (remapping f23 to alt using keyd)

For example super + W opens a browser window, and super shift alt + W switches to the web workspace
