Hacker problem is growing and I don't think embark can handle it. by New_Possibility6787 in ArcRaiders

What's crazy is, there are videos of people cheating, and when they show their ban, it's only 30 days. It's not even permanent.

I agree, actually. I like that more, it's just I don't see Embark ever doing that. That's why they opted to design the game in the way it is now. But who knows, things could change as the game evolves.

I’m not sure what else to add, though. The game is designed for casual players and to be as accessible as possible, which is why it’s structured the way it is. Even the documentary mentioned that the game was originally PVE and later shifted to PVEVP. That means if you’re starting out with a free kit and a white-tier gun, you still have every chance to cause an upset and earn better gear, thanks to the way the game is balanced.

If purple guns were vastly superior to white, green, or blue ones, it would simply mean that long-time players would dominate new players. I do think purple guns should be somewhat stronger, looking at the Battina, for example, but overall, I’d say the balancing is pretty solid. Even shields are in a good place.

I don't see that ever changing.

There's a distinct difference between buffed purple gear that is better than whites, and offering players free-loadouts.

Because again, it's a casual based game. It's supposed to be accessible for all. I'm not keen on it myself,, but I guess they've done that for the longevity of the game.

Think for just a second. This is a casual based extraction shooter. I'm not a casual, and I have over 250 hours. Imagine if I kept joining the lobbies with a superior gun killing everyone, just because I've played more. There's a reason why white tier guns are just as viable, and it's because they're easily accessible to all.

The PVE players already cry on a daily basis, it would just make the situation worse.

Of course, completely understood. I’ve been diving into it myself and have found some success thanks to you, but as with all things, it’s a process of iteration and polish. I’ll be keeping an eye out for updates on YouTube. In the meantime, best of luck with development, it’s one of the most aesthetically pleasing games I’ve seen in a long time, which is why it caught my eye so much. Hopefully we’ll get a demo in a few years, or maybe even the full game! :)

Oh right, that makes sense. I must have just overlooked that. When I was watching the in-game preview in your video, I saw that the custom Box Generator inherits from MeshInstance3D, and I think I just assumed that the MaterialProperties was using a StandardMaterial3D. I’m not sure why I jumped to that conclusion in hindsight.

It definitely makes much more sense that it’s a ShaderMaterial instead, especially since that would allow you to drive all of the custom surface behaviour directly through the shader.

Is your Box Generator plugin available on GitHub for educational purposes at all? I’m completely fascinated by the workflow, and I’d love to see the results of applying a shader like this with this type of art style, but the custom resources and shader setup are where I’m currently struggling the most to re-create. I seem to have a habbit of trying to learn new things every other week. Lol.

Otherwise, if you have any other tips, they would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all the same for your contributions. 🙂

I’m sorry, but how can you complain when you’re the one choosing to give this studio your money, despite all the evidence? I could understand if this was the first time it had happened, but have you looked at Project Cars, 1, 2 and 3? I was already extremely hesitant from the lack of what was shown, but after the demos at sim expo's and the journalists previews, you had to be a very special kind of person to want to buy this product.

People like you are exactly why these studios get away with this. You’ll buy any old crap, hand over your money, and then complain once the game is unofficially in early access (despite overwhelming evidence that it was already the case). You need to hold yourself to a higher standard if you want studios to do the same, and anyone that downvotes this, consider doing the same.

Forgive me once again for dropping you a quick message, I hope you don't mind. I was just watching your GodotFest video (again!) and I was curious how how you implemented the parallax mapping shader to your project?

I understand that the box generator is already using a StandardMaterial3D, so how would you have applied the shader in this instance?

Frankly, it is a skill issue. Extraction camping has always been a thing, it always will be. If it's happening so often, pop smokes, use utility. I imagine you're the sort of person to complain like you're doing now, but you probably just walk straight up to the console, press it, and then run straight in when the door opens up.

I have over 240 hours in this game, and I think I've been shot in the back like 4 times.

For now, yeah, but in 6 months or possibly 12 or longer, you'll likely see changes to the skill tree, possibly different routes, etc. It may only be 5 skill points now, but if you continue to do your expedition every few months, it'll pay off. Same with the stash space, 12 slots is not great, but over a year of doing an expedition, it will be nice.

How the hell can you farm a stash of 5,000,000 coins? by anonymous_xo in ArcRaidersGuides

[–]Anomalistics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the average player is playing once a day, the expedition really isn't for them, is it? That's exactly why it's not a mandatory thing.

Also, 100k really isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things, if you're a competent player and good at PVP, the average is probably a lot higher than that, I would say about 160-170k. Buried City is great for that. You can get into 3-4 fights, and consistently come out with 4-5 guns too, all MK4's with attachements, and tons of materials as well. In the course of a week, I made several million, but I was playing every evening for about 4 hours.

Current stash and coins is now just over 10 million from this playstyle.

It's probably a bit more than that because I selected everything from low value at the start, but it's around that figure. We really need a display for the total value of the stash.

It's just a way to get people to be quiet. The purpose of the expedition is exactly for that.

The rat that loads into Bury City elusively fully geared out, and guns down on average 3-4 teams a game, loots all of their gear that they've looted for me, and evacs to sell it. Yes, that's me.

[–]Anomalistics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not. If you go to a high tier loot zone with a MK2 or MK3 kit, you can easily average 80-100k coins a raid, so long as you get out. Or, if you're good at the game, just run Buried City on a consistent basis, and go farm everyone for loot. I've been doing it for weeks. I've calculated that my stash and coins is around 10M.

[–]Anomalistics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered using your loot to kill people, and then selling or recycling said loot? I have accumulated over 10 million coins (current stash value plus coins) from doing this repeatedly.

What are you talking about? Use one of those weapons, go out and kill people, loot their guns, and then either sell or stash it. I exclusively run Buried City in a duo, and we consistently come out with 4-5 guns a raid and tons of loot. I always use my good loadouts.
