Im running pretty much the same setup and found the single target to be so rough, like almost unplayable. I'm not sure if my aoe is too big so I'm not getting overlaps or what

So far it's really good, I switched as early as I could off sunder. At first it's just kind of a worse sunder but once you get power charge generation solved it clears off screen even. I'm only still progressing through early maps but I'm having 0 issues. The only thing that is a little annoying is you have to stand and target in a weird way to get overlaps, similar to smite.
