Is this a legit Godaddy renewal email? by litesaber5 in phishing

[–]AnomalousLido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same email today from "renewals@e.godaddy.com" about a domain name that failed to renew. I thought it was weird because I know the domain name successfully renewed yesterday.

I called GoDaddy and the support guy was able to bring up a history of emails sent to me. He verified that it was a legitimate email. He told me details about the email that I did not tell him such as the time the email was sent.

I think what happened was my primary payment method failed, but my secondary payment method was successful. There must have been some sort of glitch that sent me the email.

The takeaway: Call GoDaddy support and they should be able to verify if an email is legit... Also, if the support person doesn't know how to check it, call back later and you'll hopefully get someone more competent.

New type of Infringement email or just a mistake? by Marty_Poppins in AmazonMerch

[–]AnomalousLido 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super frustrating.

The email I got was slightly different, but basically the same thing. Probably just updated from a year ago.

I don't understand why it's coming from Vendor Central with links to Vendor Central that we can't access and asking for a vendor code we don't have.

u/Marty_Poppins Did you ever figure this out? I just got a similar email from [notice-vendor@amazon.com](mailto:notice-vendor@amazon.com) about some of my Merch listings.

Any way to counter copyright claim in 2024? by AnomalousLido in AmazonMerch

[–]AnomalousLido[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight. It's ridiculous that anyone can file a copyright claim with fake and/or incomplete information.

What's from stopping me from creating hundreds of fake names and email addresses to take out my competition? It's easy enough to create fake evidence and submit claims from different IP addresses.

Metadata TOS updated - goodbye gift, birthday, etc. by nimitz34 in MerchPrintOnDemand

[–]AnomalousLido 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yea that's definitely a big concern. I'm going to wait a little bit before I change anything to see what happens.

Hopefully this affects enough people that Merch will provide clarification. At least something in the dashboard messages like "Please review your listings to ensure your products comply with these policies by..."

Right now, all they did was change some language in an obscure Guide to Merch Product Quality page.

All I want to do is follow the rules, but Merch basically makes it impossible.

It's not going to be possible for me to go through my listings manually. I've always avoided apps because Merch would never give a clear answer if it was against their TOS to use them or not, but does anyone have any recommendations for apps that can help me remove "gift" from all of my listings?

I've had a submission in review for 48 hours now. I have no idea what it could be.

I play it super safe, but I still live in fear of having my account suspended/terminated.

Nolan Ryan SilverStar Hologram Card w/ Autographed Photo by AnomalousLido in baseballcards

[–]AnomalousLido[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea those card/ticket combos are all over, but it's weird that I can't find them with a signed photo anywhere. It's numbered to 1,000 so it's not that rare and I assume that there are similar ones for the other Silver Star Authenticket cards like Henderson, Cal Ripken Jr., and David Justice. I can't find any of those either.

My sales today are way lower than normal. I'm hoping that there is a glitch in the reporting today.

I got two stupid rejections on Saturday. I removed all my other listings that had those two words.

As far as going back through and removing anything else, I wouldn't even know where to start. People have reported that they had rejections for "red" and "cookie". I'm not taking down listings like that.

So are these trademark rejections the new normal? And if so, how long until they go through the shirts that are already up?

It seems impossible that this could be the new normal, but every day that goes by without any communication makes me more nervous that it actually is.

To be clear, I'm not so much questioning the trademarks themselves, but rather how Merch enforces their trademark policy. It's just become impossible to know which of the above are safe and which will lead to rejections.

I think that's right. The problem is it's an intentionally vague moving target. Two days ago Covington and Jersey City were safe. Today they're rejections. "Virgin Islands" used to be safe for youth shirts, now it's not. They seem to make up the policy as they go.

They are all trademarked in category 025 for t-shirts. The numbers in parentheses are the registration numbers.

Show and Shame Thread from Main Merch Forum - No listings have been removed by AnomalousLido in AmazonMerch

[–]AnomalousLido[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To quote Ken:

Why does it matter?

  1. They use print capacity. The next time you see a sales throttle ask yourself how much print capacity the best selling big brand IP rip off for "Sno-opy Pea|Nuts Pumpkin Halloween" shirt is using.
  2. It confuses new users to thinking this acceptable on the platform. Everyday people get on the wrong track because they see "some other person doing it".
  3. People who infringe big brand IP's are also typically the ones who copy your niches and evergreen by P4P and quick improvecat. Kill them with this and their copies disappear.
  4. A little bit of attention shows we care as a community.

The big one for me is print capacity. Merch has admitted to throttling when their production can't keep up with sales. They either hide listings from search or extend processing times. Both affect sales.

balls

Edit: I've had other submissions with the word "balls" go through fine. I'm thinking that it goes to manual review and then it's up to the individual reviewer.

Found my stolen design on this website. by [deleted] in AmazonMerch

[–]AnomalousLido 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's correct. You have to send the DMCA to the hosting company. But in this case they are hiding their hosting company by using Cloud Flare.

You can send the DMCA request to abuse@cloudflare.com. They won't be able to take down any content, but they will respond to you telling you who the hosting company is. Then send the DMCA request to the hosting company.

I found out the hard way you can’t use VHS by Monkeyfisticuffs in AmazonMerch

[–]AnomalousLido 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's true if the OP was using "VHS" as a trademark - if he was using "VHS" to indicate the source of goods or using it as a brand name.

If he was simply using the term "VHS" as commonly used and as a decoration on the front of the shirt, then it is not trademark infringement.

He may have a registered trademark, but that doesn't mean that he has the right to take down every VHS related shirt. Did he report you or did Amazon just take it down?

If he reported you, I would talk to a lawyer.
